    $500 at USClaimsService.com for me???

Yesterday I get letter in the mail saying that I had $500 waiting for me to claim. They said that it was due from a purchase of a BMW that I had brought from Mountain View BMW. It had the address that I lived at during that time and the last four of my SS number listed.

The info was correct and I had brought a BMW from that dealership at the time I was living at the posted address.

Trick here is they want $49.95 to process this claim.

NOT!!! that I am falling for this, until I can call BMW MV.... I just wanted to see if anyone else has received this and if this is just another phishing letter.

I was thinking of contacting BMW of North America to see what they have to say, as well.

    What are your thoughts.

and no I don`t want to buy a bridge!

I does sound funny, but also scary that they have the last 4 of your SS.

    Do they have a contact#?
I would try to contact the dealership and find out if they were/are offering any type of rebate. But there shouldn`t be any fee if that is the case.

I would be much more concerned about the social being on there.

    Good luck and be careful

Same thoughts that I had. I have called the sales manager and will contact the GM next to ask them what they think.

I do know that the dealership is under a different name now than when I brought the car, so that makes me wonder why that is

The last 4 digits of your SS# are used a lot in various business transactions. They are probably pretty accesible to those that know how to get them.
US Claims Services come up as a legitimate agency. Note that they are listed as plural. You still should be able to get any money that is owed you without paying a fee.

Did the $49.95 fee still apply when filing through the state controller`s office?

Nope its threw the state web site and all you have to do is click on the claim button on the list that has your name and address. Takes you to a form, fill in the blanks, hit print and send that form with some ID stuff to the address at the bottom of the page, can take up to 180 days

I have time since this money has been due me since 1999

You should have asked for the interest owed to you. If they`re able to slap on an APR to your payments, I don`t see any reason why you couldn`t slap on a small fee to what is already owed to you.

That`s cool that they at least contacted you though. I wish Audi would contact me and tell me that they owe me some money.

This was not from BMW it was from a BMW dealership and for what I don`t know yet, calls to the sales department have not been returned. I suspect that they got caught doing something they should not have

Now I`m thinking what happened that these guys have to give me back $500. The dealership has changed hands and is no longer Allision BMW.

They must have got there hands slapped for something.
