    NC/TN trip 2020

Mrs. Sizzle and I went up to the mountains of NC/TN for a few weeks to get out of the heat/humidity of SW Florida. Trip went well, weather cooperated for the most part, except when we were in TN driving The Tail of The Dragon and surrounding roads...it broke, and we enjoyed it, but I wish it were dry and sunny!

Macan got TRASHED and there were numerous `blackmail` photos taken of it filthy! LOL

A few pics in no particular order...

Scott, beautiful shots!! I have traveled sections of that road and all I can say is watch for law enforcement and their silly 25mph speed limits.

    Enjoy your trip.

    Sizzle Chest:
I do not know that I have seen pics of Mrs. Sizzle`s white Mican.
Does the "GRUPPE" license plate ID on her Mican have any significance and what does it meaning??

Who owns the grey/silver Caymen I see in the photos? Friend; another tourist you met by chance?

Great photography, Sizzle Chest!! Like I`ve said before, your photo-taking skills equal your detailing skills.

I understand why you wanted to visit this area at this time of the year. Just great scenery with the mountains. Kind of like getting a bazillion (OK, many) digital post card-worthy images of this area from you!

Thanks for the pics on the "Tail of the Dragon" road. It`s not a secret "road raceway" anymore. Hope you had fun on it, despite the weather

Nice trip. Great pictures. How was the GTS to drive there? Does yours have torque vectoring plus?

I wish I lived closer. I went once years ago with a bike but every year I want to go for Wookies in the woods (VW R32s).

    Re: NC/TN trip 2020

Thanks all! Glad ya`ll enjoying the pics!

The Tail is actually in Robinsville, NC, right on the TN/NC border. Was a great trip!

GTS is a great road trip mobile. It`s like a big/heavier 911. Handles excellent. AWD pulls ya outta the corners nicely. Great power, comfort, luxury, braking. All around an excellent vehicle. I do not have TQV+ (but will double check on my window sticker!) You should make the trek one year for that gathering of VW`s...great country!

GRUPPE translated from German means: `club, squad, group, team`. That is the name of our Porsche Club-Paradise Region Gruppe. ( Paradise Region Gruppe - Home ) Silver 911 is a friend of ours who met up with us up there for a few days to drive the roads and hang out. Was a great trip despite the few days of bad weather!

    Re: NC/TN trip 2020

Hi, Sizzle. Mama Jag and I have a place in Bryson City, about halfway up a mountain overlooking Fontana Lake, which supplies most of the power up there (hydroelectric). We`re maybe a 20 minute ride or so to Tennessee. We`re about 30 miles from Gatlinburg but to get there you have to cross a mountain and the roads close in the winter, so that`s a nonstarter. Don`t you just love how the roads don`t have guard rails so going up or down a mountain the passenger can often look straight down a few thousand feet. My wife didn`t open her eyes for years. The parkway to Asheville is breathtaking. When you live in Florida, which, lets face it, isn`t a really pretty state, going to western NC for the colors is mindbending. And, of course, the Dragon is the Dragon. People learn that the hard way just about every year - usually fatally. Glad you and your family had a good time and go back a lot. Regards.

Thanks E! Very cool. Great area of the country and you are in the middle of it! Yep, no rails will make you a better driver, LOL.

We try to go up every year for a change of scenery and weather!

    Re: NC/TN trip 2020

We live in Tampa year `round, go up there when we can - which isn`t as often as it used to be since we are (very) senior citizens. This year was an exception because we hid out there and avoided most of that covid crap. I always used to feel like a bootlegger going up there because it was dry and if you wanted to go out and socialize you had to go to Maggie Valley! It`s changed a little now.
