    Arrow Stimuls check

Heard today was the day. Bank systems and on-line banking were crashed. So called direct. $1200 DD in the account as of this morning. I am one of the lucky ones to still be working. So this money will just be banked. Paper checks will go out early next week.

Mine has been pending in my account since Monday. And finally deposited this morning. I quickly transferred it to savings. Hopefully, it will still be there when this is over.

Enjoy it and spend it wisely. I won`t be getting one as I don`t qualify for it.

While this is a blessing and seemingly absolute monetary necessity to many of you to get through this unusually difficult time dealing with the CoVID-19 pandemic, I need to remind all of you who have or will receive this money that it is not "free" money: you WILL be required to pay income tax on it. The same goes for unemployment compensation. As the saying goes, "There are only two things that are absolutes in life: death and taxes." (Kinda morbid, Captain Obvious, considering the situation, don`t you think?... just sayin`).

Sorry Lonnie but you are wrong about paying income tax on the money received for those that do get it.

You are correct: they are deemed "refundable tax credits". What the heck does that mean? Is it IRS-speak for "it is free for now, but it will impact what you pay for income tax eventually?"
Kinda like Speaker Pelosi telling us about the things the Affordable Heath Care Act will do for us: "We don`t know until we pass all the legislation in this bill"

For all of those who don`t really need the money, especially those who still have their jobs, please consider donating it to a worthy charity. This is not a time to be "all about me"....

Most people I know who make unwise money decisions do it with their homes.

    Re: Stimuls check

Got mine this week, paid bills. As much as I`d love to spoil myself, the bills gotta be paid. Saved what`s left for continuing to be able to keep things current the longer this goes.

I might add it`s nice to be married and have 3 kids.

    Charity begins at home

What`s the meaning of the phrase `Charity begins at home`?

The proverb `charity begins at home` expresses the overriding demand to take care of one`s family, before caring for others.

What`s the origin of the phrase `Charity begins at home`?
`Charity begins at home` isn`t from the bible but it is so near to being so that it is reasonable to describe it as biblical. The notion that a man`s family should be his foremost concern is expressed in 1 Timothy 5:8, King James Bible, 1611:
    - But if any provide not for his owne, & specially for those of his owne house, hee hath denied the faith, and is worse then an infidel.

Responding to Budget’s charity quote, even if all my family were well off in every possible way (financially), my next search for charity would be to look towards friends, or even needy people in my neighborhood. I believe providing funds directly to those in need brings more bang for the buck. Different story if millions are being donated, but this type of sum isn’t going to do much for a large charity.
