Damn, sorry to see/hear this. I hope you are ok. You can fix the car!

Did the other driver get cited or found to be at fault?

As far as I know, he didn`t get cited, but after having a phone interview with my insurance company, THEY are finding him at fault. They told me "Speeding or not, we are finding him at fault because he didn`t yield the right of way." Basically, I was already on the main road and he still entered the highway, making a left turn in front of me even though he said he saw me and claimed I was speeding.

I suppose. Even though I know he`s at fault and my insurance company says he`s at fault, I`m still going to pay my $250 deductible and have my insurance fix the car. 1) Because it will be fixed faster and 2) In my line of work, I deal with people who like to play the victim and I have a feeling that`s what this guy is trying to do and I simply DO NOT have any desire to put up with any BS. If he wants to argue/whine/fight about it, let him do it with my insurance company`s lawyers not me.

I don`t know what was on this guy`s mind since he said he saw me, thought I was coming up too fast, yet still pulled out in front of me. I just want my car fixed, and if for some reason they have to replace the bumper cover, I just won`t have the front plate put back on since Ohio is dropping the requirement (officially) this summer.

Yes even if you we’re drunk they would site him for the accident (you for being drunk). You we’re in main road and still have the right away.

I had a lady driving opposite direction and light turned yellow. The police knew by some way I was speeding but i was going straight and she decided to make her left turn into me.... even though the could determine I was speeding she was going to get cited and they would determine if i was going to get ticket... never did.

She was mother f’ing me... said i was the bad driver and swore she was gonna sue me fro everything i owned...her insurance covered everything...

Glad your Ok and damage doesn’t seem to bad.

Wow Don, glad you are ok,

A few years ago I had a minivan totaled by a woman who apparently didn`t understand the difference between a green arrow and a solid green light as far as whether or not she had the right of way to turn left in front of us going straight. Big surprise....no insurance and driving with a suspended license. Luckily we had uninsured motorist coverage, but we were still out the deductible. The cops gave her tickets for reckless driving, driving without insurance, and driving without a license but that was it. The thing that really pissed me off was she had 3 young kids in the car. Personally, I think child endangerment should have been added to the list and from the way she was acting, a tox screen wouldn`t have been a bad idea either.

Re: So...how did this past weekend treat YOU?

    GOOD NEWS!!!!

The body shop just called and it appears that despite the semi-severe damage to the left front rim, there is little to no damage to the suspension! They have a new rim and tire on the way and after putting them on, they are going to re-check the measurements to confirm the suspension is undamaged. It`s still up in the air if the front bumper cover is able to be saved, they still have to pull it and see if there is any hidden damage. So right now it looks like it`s just going to be a tire, rim, beauty ring, fender and glass for the driver`s side mirror.

People full of crap, be it another driver or police who think they saw something different than how it was. Is the reason i will not drive a car without a dash cam. My son in-law got hit by a red light runner just a few months ago. The lady that hit her and a witness said he ran the red light. His dash cam footage proved otherwise. A dash cam to me should be the first upgrade in any vehicle. Protection from lies, either intentionally or not.

    glad you`re safe Don.

Re: So...how did this past weekend treat YOU?

The passenger rear door was swiped by some hit and runner in February, she got her RX back from body shop last August. What caused that damage was a persons negligence, they left a piece of roofing material ON TOP of the trailers wind deflector, so it came off on the Tollway during rush hour traffic, the only thing she could do was square up the car for impact, though she only paid for her deductible, the cost to fix was just below $8k before the insurance considered paying for windshield replacement, which would have been another $1,700. This recent side swipe will require the passenger door to be replaced as the dent cracked the paint and seal of door skin to the structure, it`s quite a shame because PDR can only fix the dent, not the corrosion seal, the marks left by the other party will even buff out. As well, the rear bumper cover will need to be replaced as it has been scratched to the plastic, but just so. It really is a shame because though the bumper has been scratched to the plastic, the surrounding area will buff out. Thank God for insurance and the damage not being too noticeable, she will get the RX fixed in the future. The whole thing frustrates me because of someone else`s carelessness. People have lapses in judgement when driving, they should just admit to it.

Don, I know your frustration all too well. Sorry to see the damage, the good news is that at first glance, it appears that your damage may be limited to the front bumper cover and the drivers front fender. I would be extremely surprised if any of the fenders sub/mounting structure was compromised. Add in a new wheel and tire, and new components for the drivers side front suspension and you will be on your way.

Don- I`m just glad you`re OK and the car will be easily repaired (well, relatively speaking). IMO you`re smart to just *get it done*, better to focus on having everything turn out OK rather than waste resources [messing] around.

ShaneB- I`m also really glad you folks came through that OK, sure could`ve been a *LOT* worse! If you posted about it before I must`ve missed it...gee, that was quite a hit.
Thanks ShaneB thanked for this post
