My final `vette was also Detailed by others (and Mallett`s guy did a fine job). I never had to correct it during my ownership, just washed and LSPed the [crap] out of it and drove the thing. That definitely helped make the experience a pleasant one, skipping that "new-to-me Big Detail", made it more like I wanted the New Car Experience to be.
Yeah I’m doing that (year late) and now thinking I shoulda had some one else do.

Heh heh, sounds like every now and then even the, uhm...most dedicated Autopians...can appreciate taking a breaks from the relentless pursuit of perfection and just enjoying the use of a car as a car. If every New Car was really in New Car Condition it`d be different, but that seem kinda rare these days.

Exactly. Very nice to not be scouting weather forecasts for a 3 day window of warmth, getting everything together, planning summer weekends dedicated mostly to trying new stuff on any car I can find.

Planning on far more driving and day-tripping than buffing and polishing this summer.

Nope but guessing they `jacked and stacked` to get it up there.

Was hoping to get down there to spend some time watching some of the process but schedule doesnt allow for that right now. Actually have to do some `real` work at work for the next few months.

Seasonal business kinda relaxed off-season but once in-season, mayhem ensues.

Final Quality Checks, sun tells no lies.

They`re gonna triple-check everything tomorrow and we`ll be heading down to pick up in the late afternoon.

Wife has been pestering me like a child on Christmas Eve for the last week...

Your wife sounds like me. A week would drive me crazy! A sweet looking car. I would love to take it for a rest drive.

Thanks. When we got first one back in 2004 I was overly OCD about it; no rain, don`t drive it here, don`t drive it there...strictly a fun car only, not an `errand runner`. Somebody, and I can`t recall who, once said "Do you own the car or does it own you?". After I reconciled myself with that mentally, it became a "It won`t melt, if it`s safe to drive, drive it wherever/whenever you want" and owning it got much more fun.

I think it still had the factory fill of washer fluid in it when we sold it, though so it certainly wasn`t an all weather driver but it saw rain whenever it , well, rained.

If your ever in Cleveland, look me up. We had a huge party about a week after getting the 2004; it was `test drive` nite for anybody sober and many took it for a drive. One came back and said "That thing sure got up to 110 quickly..." which, while not my intention turned out to be fine. No harm no foul.

Car has actually been at Esoteric since March 15. Winter was still lingering up here so I told them "No hurry, if you have other projects feel free to bump us back at your convenience". Once we started hitting a warm day here and there (although it snowed last Monday), wife started getting a bit antsy; 5 weeks was no issue to me, saw it as free indoor storage. When it comes home today, my daily gets evicted from garage which woulda been a bummer if it was still really cold.

Thanks, hopefully it proves as trouble free as our 2004 which really had no issues in 14 years of ownership. Had to replace a drivers door window track assembly 3 years ago but aside from that, turn the key and drive for it`s entire life. Unfortunately, I`m guessing the 2019 will *not* be as trouble free...too much technology.
