Criminal cases usually take a week at most.
Civil cases can drag on and on.
Good luck and try to enjoy the ride.

Well, that was quick. As we were lined up outside the courtroom, mere moments from entering to begin jury selection, the scofflaw pleaded guilty on all counts.
Being `Number 4`, I did get a chance to sit in jury box as opposed to the gallery while judge explained what happened so that was kinda cool.
As we were about to enter courtroom, the door opens and out walks my wife`s cousin who is an Assistant U.S. Attorney in this circuit/district so I got to say hello to him as they hustled us in there; was wondering if I was gonna run into him today.
Spoke to the Judge for a moment before we left and then caught the defense attorney in the hallway afterwards and spoke to him a bit as well; very nice, informative folks, learned a little bit so not a total waste of a morning.
Oh well, I am done now, apparently my entire service is complete in this instance.
I asked at the desk if I could be tossed back in the pool until my 4 week term was up but apparently it doesn`t work that way. Sadness.
Also nice how everybody, and I mean everybody, in the Courthouse thanks you for your service whenever you pass them in the hallway or talk to them...very cool. All in all, a rewarding (if far too brief) experience.
Guess I`ll just go to work now.
