Oh man, Ron`s influence casts a wide net...

Always kinda been a black car guy, would never even consider white. Stopped at a Chevy store to pick up some literature, ran across this 2017 Arctic White Z51 Corvette and, unbelievably, was quite taken with it. With the body-colored trim pieces and chrome wheels, it just looked so classy that I could see myself in white. Black is bad and menacing but white has such a certain sense of class that I couldn`t help but stare and ponder. Unfortunately it`s a Z-51 as otherwise would be worthy of further investigation as it`s very well optioned, 2017 MSRP of $75100, being offered at $62195.

Geez, I just come to Autopia for help and end up turning my color palette world upside down. Thanks Ron!

White is gorgeous, almost as difficult to keep clean as black but much more forgiving for paint defects.

White is probably the most difficult color to coat because you can’t see what you have coated. I find white easier to keep clean looking than black. Black shows every spot or dust speck. Silver is probably the easiest color to keep clean looking and correct, but it’s the hardest to make look great.

Tempting, but no. Looking to order in beginning of 2019. Was just floored how good it looked but it`s really gonna be replacement for Margaret`s 2004 and don`t think she`d enjoy the harshness of the Z51 package on that car. Was the first time I sat in a C7 though; seems to be a bit larger of a car on the outside and a bit less room on the inside than the C5 and visibility seems a bit worse. Not that stuff like that matters with a car like this.

The body-color painted trim option really looked good on this, gave it a very smooth, all-white look and the sharpness/contrast of the chrome wheels/red calipers was very compelling. It would be a color well suited to Polish Angel stuff, perhaps Master Sealant and Rapidwaxx as opposed to coating it (Gasp!). Even the red on the interior, of which I`m generally not a fan, worked well in this case.

White does have me thinking though, something I never thought would happen. It`s just so elegant.

Colored lights makes this problem much less of a problem, orange works quite well.

I had an 1989 Vette in White with red interior and just really didn’t care for the red interior. My 1993 Vette in triple black was awesome.

I have a summit white 2015 Chevy Silverado. When it is clean and waxed the white pops at you. Doesn`t take much dirt or dust to lose the "pop". I think white and black cars are the hardest to wash because it`s easier to see the dirt, bugs, etc. so you have to wash harder to get it all the way clean.

Somehow the C6 never really `spoke` to us. Dunno why, really, just one of those things.

I plan to get a lightly used C7 in a few year unless a mid engine C8 steels my heart (and is still still corvette type affordable).

Re: Oh man, Ron`s influence casts a wide net...

I`ve always found white to be the easiest color to live with buy a HUGE margin, and that`s compared to silver. It`s such a dramatic diff compared to other colors that my wife encourages me to buy white cars because of how easy they are for me. But I only like (and in some cases downright *love*) it on certain vehicles.

I dunno about "black looking menacing"...I think of it more like, uhm...."trying to look menacing". Says the guy who had so many black/black/black cars back in the day
