Almost no one My vision can make it challenging, but I do look to at least see how the second hand is moving.

And, heh heh, I bet that *you* pay attention

Some of us still look to watches and footwear as part of the initial impression, especially the women I know.

Oh yes, I notice them. I’m a WIS. True about footwear too. Once had a dental hygienist compliment me on my shoes.

Funny how sometimes even gals of whom one wouldn`t expect it (yeah, I`m watching my wording here) spot stuff like that...and accurately too.

Heh heh, OK...I`ll admit I had to look up "WIS"

Another case of "learn something new every day!"

And hey, I must be wearing mine more often these days, haven`t had to reset/wind it, other than for DST, for a while now.

    Re: Watches.

When DST took place I was in charge of setting all the clocks on everything here and at my parents’ house. Included in that was having to set the fancy clocks on the two Benzes. My dad just recently bought a 126233 Datejust so he had fun adjusting that for the first time. It has a 72 hour power reserve.

Wow, 72! My old thing sure won`t go that long. Glad to hear your dad treated himself to that too.

If your power reserve is particularly short, it’s probably time to get a service. Happened to my mom. Between the new purchase and her service and mine, this has been a rather expensive year for watches for us.

I`m kinda done with having it serviced unless something goes wrong, and my local Rolex guy is gone now. We`ll see...he had suggested I think twice about having it serviced unless truly necessary to fix something, which I found interesting, and I quit having it done regularly with zero apparent downside (yeah..just like the guy who doesn`t change his oil because the car still "runs fine" ). Eh, it never did have much of a reserve even when new.

Luckily we have a Rolex Service Center a couple of towns away. We didn’t know you can bring it directly there instead of through the jeweler so next time that will be the procedure. New Rolex watches can go ten years before needing a service.

Heh heh, you don`t live in a backwater like some of us

And yeah, they`ve apparently come a long way since I got mine. At least my stem hasn`t pulled out for a few decades, that`s a nice change.

I bet the whole assembly that holds the stem in place was repaired. Hate to go to change the time and have the whole thing pull out in your hand.

It`s been over ten years since I bought a non smar````ch. Figured it was time to restart the watch hobby. Picked up another Seiko automatic. Best watches for the money IMO.

    Watches.

I had a Seiko Kinetic once (Do they still make them?). Eventually it died though. Wasn’t worth a fix to me.

I just saw a non working one exactly like the one I had for sale for $30 for parts.

    Re: Watches.

I’m a fan of Frédérique Constant watches. I’ve had this moonphase watch for 14 years now. Kinda reminds me of a Patek !
