The fast may have slightly affected the workout. Did 6 cycles and through determination/stupidity could probably have eeked one one more. Instead went to two 30s recovery periods and made the 15 min total. Played with jerks but the movement took too long (not enough volume) and just push presses got the volume way up but didn’t think there was enough recruitment. Cleans and presses with a longer recovery phase intuitively feels about right for me.
mjlinane- Not surprised about the Fast affecting your workout. I mean..what I eat for the meal preceding my (resistance) workouts is simply *critical* (not really the specifics of the meal, just that I had a good hearty one). Sure wish it weren`t, but there`s just no getting around it. Cardio is one thing, and I`ve gotta do it the way I really *will* actually do it, but a lot of folks (with studies to back them up) would say that even doing that on empty is a bad idea.
Workout went well this morning. Weight and reps all up. 6 total sets and my body feels shot. Only two weeks left before i start eating to grow. Cant keep adding weight every workout eating light.

MTS Nutrition Machine Whey is amazing. Just finished chocolate, cookies and cream on the way.

I`ve pretty much gotten away from Meal Replacement/Protein Powders in favor of whole food, but there`s good evidence that Whey can be very beneficial. Good to find one that you, uhm....tolerate...that also tastes good.
You guys mix them with water or milk (and if the latter, what kind)? I`m sloooowly using up my (discontinued flavor of) IsoPure Zero Carb, still mixing in a little of Champion`s Heavyweight Gainer, which is pretty [crappy] stuff but I like it I mix mine in the blender with a little ice and whole milk, and have it immediately after a resistance workout along with a fishoil capsule. My wife mixes liquid fishoil in with hers when she makes it, but, uhm...no thanks.
Weird how I`m leaner and more muscular now that I *do NOT* use the drinks as much, it`s like switching to (basically regular) food did what the Meal Replacement Powders claim to do! I used to have some kind of MRP almost every day, often more than one.
jrock645- Glad to hear it went well, and I bet the added calories are gonna be beneficial when you get to that.
Still all sorts of seemingly conflicting info on Protein Requirements, but I always figure that most people get more than enough without doing anything special (though there are those Whey benefits..) and I`ve *NEVER* seen any study show that *anybody* can metabolize those huge amounts of protein that so many go for. IIRC ~30g is the limit for anybody in one meal, even some huge athlete. Arguments *for* more protein are like "what, you think [huge bodybuilder] can`t metabolize a whole can of tuna?!?" And well, weird as it might sound, that`s apparently correct. Lots of seemingly nutty stuff is true (and vice-versa ).
Back when I was soo serious about this stuff, it worked out that I needed about a gram of protein per pound of lean weight. More than the RDA (gee, big surprise ) but far less than what the Supplement Industry says you oughta have.
Ive also done better trying to eat whole foods instead of shakes. A scoop after my workout is about it for me. Though, ill probably add another scoop or two with ground oats in two weeks. They do make it easier to hit certain macro goals. Key is use them to supplement and not as the foundation of the diet. Pasteurized egg whites are also easy to drink for easy protein.

I like eggs..and I generally give (most of) the yolks to the dogs. Don`t care about the cholesterol, but rather the...oh what is it?..eh, can`t recall but it`s some Arac..something..donic Acid that supposedly causes inflamation. Oh, who am I kidding, I just like the taste better without all the yolk
If I wanted to be all serious about it I guess I`d have egg white/albumin protein before bed for its slow-digesting nature, but nah, don`t want to do that.
Eh, I find it sooo easy to get all cynical about such stuff and write it off as more Supplement Industry BS, not saying that`s good though. But it seems like the "regular dosage" is usually a whole lot of protein for one feeding.
Arachadonic acid.
Its actually sold as a pricy supp thats supposed to help you grow.

So I ventured into the aerobics room for the first time and found out they have boxing bags! I used to love boxing style workouts so I`m going to hit my first one today.
Hard cardio and arm day incoming

RaysWay- Huh, that sounds very different from the normal Fitness Centers, guess you`re going to a good place!
The soreness from yesterdays workout is hitting like a ton of bricks.

jrock645- You`d had a little downtime before that workout, right?
How did it go?
I always expect people to do *better* than expected after most any (reasonable) layoff. Being forced to cut way back on the frequency/volume was the best thing that ever happened to my workouts.
DOMS is a good thing IMO, shows the workout was sufficiently demanding.
Oh, and I missed that post of yours about the Arachadonic Acid, somehow surprised that it`s spelled that normally! Barry Sears (he of the Zone Diet) is convinced it causes Silent Inflammation. But eh, for me it`s really about the taste and having some leftovers that the dogs like (and now expect after anybody has bfast).
