Texas Has the Autobahn? Top speeders of 2017

Saw this posted on fb and found it share worthy.

I am personally guilty of 81 in a 35 as a youth and multiple `road in Mexico` trips.

The Last one is quite impressive. I wish they had pics of the vehicles attached.

Side note: speeding is unsafe and illegal!
Keep it on a closed track or airstrip people.

I went 175-180 once. Legally, though. A friend and myself went to a dry lake bed, the one where they hold time trials. We were allllllll alone. Just the two of us.

It was in his modified Evo X that we did that speed.

I know! I bet they got arrested and impounded. I`m gonna search for these stories this weekend online. You`d think that would have made some news somewhere.

102 in a 45 in a 2000 Impala, got caught. Ticket was for 30 over, 4 points on my license. Did NOT get arrested or impounded. Got off easy IMO. Young and dumb.

Maxed out my Yamaha R6 twice at around 160 (slightly uphill) in a 70 on an open part of freeway. Got it up to 110-120 MANY times as well. Never got caught on it.

Custer Road is a small road, I`ve circled where it is relative to my house. It is a three lane N/S (Six lane total) somewhat main road that runs from Richardson to McKinney. It is a typical suburb main road. At 140mph, the person must have been driving a Ford Raptor or did it FAR north of where I live because there isn`t anywhere near me on Custer where I deem it safe to travel at that speed, it is far to bumpy.

But if we want to talk about the people that haven`t been caught on the President George Bush Turnpike, we can because there are some brave souls that use that Tollway. It is primarily straight, flat, and has excellent visibility.





The actual speed that I`ve driven, on one of the Dallas area Tollway`s...... well, the internet isn`t a place that we should put our secrets.

At 181, it makes you wonder how they got caught!

They were probably not doing 181 when they were caught/chased. My guess is the guy on the bike was gunned/lazed, and law enforcement either followed them by air or hung back at a safe distance/speed until they slowed down.

Personally, doing that type of speed is deep into the reckless zone for me. I`ve done roughly 120 on the Autobahn a few times and it was a hoot, but the conditions were suitable for that type of driving. Back here in the US I`ve never topped 100 on a public road and have no intention to do so ever. I`ll save that for a track. I`ve traveled at 90-is a few times for a short period in a well set up car on VERY lonely roads with lots of visibility to ensure there wasn`t a road hazard like a deer or antelope waiting to commit suicide as I drove past.

I might be wrong, but I suspect safety doesn`t bubble to the top of anyone`s concerns if they`re doing 181 MPH.
