I usually don`t give two you know whats about celebrities, but Petty passing is a real bummer. Probably in my top 3 favorite musicians of all time. He was on my short lost of people I wanted to see in concert

I heard about it on the way home yesterday from work, the radio station had an "All Petty," two hour "concert" in memorium.

When I heard two of his songs in a row on the radio yesterday - I knew something was up.
Another musician whose songs hold great memories for me - gone. Very sad.
Free Fallin` has to be one of the best "cruising" songs ever.
RIP. Always heard he put on a great show. Wish I took advantage of times when he was around. Such a great songwriter.

Really liked the duet he sang with Stevie Nicks entitled "Stop Draggin` My Heart Around" (Yes, there is a certain irony to state that title and it appears to be in (very) poor taste at this time, come to think of it now. Hope his fan base/well-wishers are not offended.)

It did not seem to be the normal rock star type. He seemed to like the music.

Yeah, sigh...66 seems too young.
He made a lot of good songs. I heard he had just finished a tour. Must have put him over the edge He will be missed. Stop dragging my heart around is a great song
One of my all time favorites. 66 is too young.
His passing had me thinking how I generally prefer many of his less commonly played songs. Like (thinking of duets-with-Stevie Nicks) "Insider" instead of "Stop Draggin`.." With a catalog of wonders as extensive as his, there`s something great for most anybody and I wish DJs would play stuff other than his biggest hits now and then.

Heh heh, nice to see that his passing warranted TWO threads here
I always liked the story of how he ended up playing with The Traveling Wilburys. (Their Vol. 1 is high on my short-list.)
