A coating for someone who uses a car wash ??????????

So, my brother does not share my love of detailing but I do reset his vehicles every so often.

He has a Black Range Rover Sport (Yikes on size and color)

I am going to correct it to 90ish %, and coat the cowl trim that`s oxidized.

What would you suggest for the paint and trim knowing he will use a car wash. Hopefully touchless LOL

I cannot see correcting a vehicle and then waxing or sealing, coating is less buffing off and Permanon is 6-8 weeks at best.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Jeff

I just used exov3 on a vehicle that will be probably seeing the drive through car wash weekly as a method of cleaning

I think something like CSL would be a good choice....not super expensive and its pretty dang easy to apply and unlike exo you don`t have to do a second layer so its not double the work

can coat would probably be one of the easiest ones to use and probably a fine enough choice

From what I`ve heard about CSL, that may be the best bet.

I know your reasoning for not trying it, but I still recommend kamakaze. I would go with ism and you can use it on the trim also. Holds up very well on wheels. There is a special shipping price now also.

As long as it`s touchless any good coating (ones sold on Autopia) will help him immensely. I like CQuartz, but anything is better than nothing. You will probably have to fix it in 12 months no matter what you use.

Maybe once you get it looking good for him and he sees the before and after shots he will will be deterred to go through the brush washes. I have a good friend who had a black Escalade and he always thought it looked nice and he ran his cars through brush washes. I performed a one step polish for him when he was ready to sell it, probably got about 80% correction. To this day he has never run his cars through a brush car wash again and he tells the dealer not to wash it. Even better he has taught his wife the same thing. They still use touch less car washes though.

Any coating you put on there should hold up better than what he has now, I have CQuartz UK on my car. Its been about 2 years and has done well.

Most coatings should be able to stand up to the chemicals (for a while anyway), but the biggest issue will be the lack of actual agitation if he`s just using the touch-less washes. A film will be left on the surface and kill beading with a quickness IME. Not to mention the crap "clear coat protection" they spray on for the upper wash selections which will change surface tension and give a false sense of the coatings performance.

IMO it`s probably a waste of time if he`s not going to care for it properly. I would just use something quick and super easy like Gloss-Coat or EXO.

I ask Optimum about the effect on Gloss Coat using automated. car washes. They were a hesitant to answer. But in the end they said it should last a year. Keep in mind their coating is harder than clear coat.
