Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
I`m just asking questions. This is totally sickening. We have a serious problem and it is a combination of things in our culture contributing it. I don`t think that a laissez-faire attitude or people getting accustomed to these things is what motives these damaged people . However, this is unique to Americans. You can`t deny that.
I am not blaming the right. I am not anti-gun either like you`ve all just assumed. I am anti assault rifle though. These people that do these things never have a revolver or hunting rifle. It`s always an assault rifle that is used as. I do think we should bring back the that ban as a start.
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
And it is not just school kids doing these mass shooting. So your arguments that the kids of today are whiny snowflakes that are acting out because they`re not getting what they want does not apply there.
Why is it unique to America?

Wondering to whom this post is directed? I, for one, am not arguing.
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
No, not really. It seemed to be the general response that I got.

Thats a very good question. Thats what we need to figure out rather than resort to the logic of “letz ban teh gunnz!”
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
Reported to the FBI for literally making comments of wanting to become a school shooter. Unfortunately they were too busy trying to find a way to blame Russia for their girl losing
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
I agree its not the answer, but you know that it will have to be a part of it. The availability of military style tactical weapons to the general public is not a good idea. I think we`ve proven that over and over again. We can`t trust one another to be responsible with them. I only trust LFE and military (even ex) to be responsible to with them.
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
I seriously doubt that is the reason why the FBI did not react. But you are right that law enforcement is not prepared to deal with this. This is not about catching criminals. It seems that the kids that do this give out warning signs. I think there were 2 instances today of family members turning in another family member because of their behavior. So we should be able to come up a better way to head off these things with the kids. The adults doing this seem to not give out very much warning signs however.
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
Ending all the ridiculous hyperbole and rhetoric would also be a good place to start. No meaningful discussion can happen with it.

Sure...Just like with guns, we all know that the sole purpose of cars is to kill.

That about does it.
Don`t forget, anyone suggesting sensible regulation, education, and gun safety clearly hates jesus.

Mocking god worshiping people is sinful & despicable.
That reminds me of a joke I heard...How many Christians does it take to replace a light bulb?
None. They all just sit in the dark and demand you accept that the light is still on!
They could pray that it goes back on........
Sensible regulation is not what the left wants..... Ask the politicians... Why do you think that none of the dems has actually drafted a bill ?????
Simple, they want no guns. Sorta like Trump gave em double what they asked for on daca, they refused.......
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
Speaking of preventing mentally ill people from gaining access to guns... anyone remember last year when the NRA had Trump roll back Obama regulations making it harder for mentally ill people to purchase guns?
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...mental-n727221
Republicans always say we don’t need new gun laws, we just need to enforce the laws already on the books. But that bill Trump signed into law undermines enforcement of existing laws that Congress passed to make sure the background check system had complete information.
Makes zero sense.

Do you really believe this, Ron? Really?? How many guns were taken away from lawful gun owners when Obama was president? If we all agree on sensible regulation, say, that would have kept this kid yesterday from getting an assault rifle (and I`ll volunteer that I don`t know the circumstances under which he got the gun, but let`s just say for the sake of argument that there was a viable point at which he could have, say, had a waiting period, or a further background check, say for people that have been expelled from school recently), then why haven`t the Republicans drafted that bill?
If we`re being "sensible", would a little more background check rigor not be sensible? How is that "no guns"? When you moved to Florida, and got a Florida driver`s license, did you have to take any tests? Or did they simply accept your CT license, and issue you a FL one? Do you fear that if there were stricter background checks, you would be unable to buy any more guns?

I think you hit the nail on the head, Ron. We used to be a "can do" country, now we are a "can`t do" country, because everybody says "me me me, I want my guns, and I don`t have enough attention span to imagine a country where regular people can have guns and psychotic kids with discipline problems can`t get assault rifles....we can`t do it."
