Amazing that we basically gave Iran $400m for no reason, like "here, I dunno what to do with all this so just take it."

Disgusting.
Seems like our budgetary issues would self correct if we just kept our money in-house.

Just think of all the money we spent rebuilding Japan and Germany after WWII. We also gave the USSR money to help them rebuild too. The US has been in the money giving away business for way too long. It`s time we looked hard at our infrastructure and said to hell with fixing other countries problems and fixed our own. I think Russia would probably go along with this too. They have been trying to keep up with our military might and also have neglected their people. Japan and Germany don`t have to spend big on their defense because the US bears the majority of the cost of their protection. I don`t think Russia is our enemy, our politicians are our worst enemy.

Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
Which Trump is going to show up today? The one that likes Putin or the one that is anti-Russia. The one that thinks China is controlling their currency or the one that has a good relationship with the Chinese prime minister? The news says they are not even sure if Trump knew they were going to drop the MOABs on Syria. N. Korea just wants aid and attention, but if ignored could set off a nuke just for spite. Trump and Kim Jong-Un need to be put in a ring to battle this one out. I think both of them are nuts.

There`s your problem. You`re listening/reading news.
Trump is actually doing what he said he was going to do.

Giving other countries isn`t putting us in debt. The treasury will just print more. What is getting us in debt is BORROWING from other countries. We can`t print money to give to them.

If the US goes in debt to a US company they just print more to pay it off which is why the reason the dollar is crap and not really worth anything. After the gold standard was done away with it`s just a piece of paper now.

Catch 22. Seems so terrible to have gone away from the gold standard until you find out the reasons why.

Trump needs to keep his mouth shut and his ears open. He let the generals start fighting, now maybe he will butt out of the economy, healthcare, and anything of real importance. I like it when he stays on the golf course, he can`t hurt too many people there. The Presidency as a reality show kinda scares me.

Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
WWIII won`t be a shooting war like WWII. I first heard about "tactical nukes" while stationed in Germany. After I figured out what tactical nukes can do I quit worrying about another big war. A big war benefits no one.

He made Sean Spicer look pretty stoopid though...
Don`t remember the exact quote, but he called him out on him saying something like Hitler didn`t use chemical weapons on his own people and the Nazis sent people to the "Holocaust Center"...
I mean, you can`t even make this stuff up.

Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
We need to just send in Force Recon and execute these nutjobs. In and out with nobody knowing we were ever there. Problem solved.

Well, Spicy is a moron. I have no idea how he managed to get that job. Did nobody else apply for it?
-
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
The selection of Spicer and others reflects on Trump`s decision (or maybe lack thereof) processes. Pretty obvious he is not a details man and relies on people around him to do much of the work. How else can you spend so much time in Florida? The Trump swamp smells.

Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
OBAMA:`“We’ve eliminated Syria’s declared chemical weapons program. All of these steps have helped keep us safe and helped keep our troops safe. Those are the result of diplomacy. And sustained diplomatic efforts, no matter how frustrating or difficult they sometimes appear, are going to be required to resolve the conflicts roiling the in Middle East, from Yemen, to Syria, to Israel and Palestine.”

Then someone needs to tell his admin folks to quit apologizing. If Trump said it was raining I would take a sample to make sure it was not golden showers. Lol

I would prefer to reduce the VA to certain types of support activity and get Vets into the public system with the public paying for the vets care. What is so interesting is when there is some news about a VA disaster and the committee`s in Congress try to act surprised!
-
Re: The Unofficial *Official* Politics Thread
I have been on "Veterans Choice" for three years now. It started off pretty good then it actually got worse than the VA care. What is worse than VA care you ask? No care is the answer. There is zero accountability. Say you need an appointment, you call Veterans Choice and they tell you to call back in 5 working days if you don`t hear from them. You call back in 5 days and they say they have never heard of you. By the way it is going to take you a whole day sitting with the phone in your hand on hold, then you are passed from one uncaring dumbass to another.
Or how about this. After waiting for 2-3 months for an appointment they send you to the wrong doctor (happened to me 3 times). Or this one: there is no doctor in your area that handles your needs (lies). Or this one: my appointment for back pain therapy was scheduled in Daytona Beach Florida! I wouldn`t mind a vacation, but driving 250 miles really screws up my back that they were going to fix.
There was no new money given to this program! You say how can they set up a program with no money? Well they just took imoney away from the VA hospitals that were already sending patients out for care.
You have to be living 40 miles away from a VA hospital to receive Veterans Choice. Well I was living 75 miles away from my nearest hospital and was able to finally see a doctor of my choice (I was already using Medicare to see a good local doctor) they went and built a brand new VA clinic 25 miles from me, so I had to drop the doctor I was seeing 5 minutes away and start seeing a new doctor at a new clinic that takes me 40 minutes to get to. The new clinic is nice, there is never anyone there. I swear the most patients in the waiting room there is 4. Of course they only have one GP there. I still have to drive 75 miles to my nearest VA hospital for any non general care.
The system is broken. They need to close all but a few select hospitals dealing with trauma that non VA doctors are not familiar with. Give me a voucher that gives me the same rights as Medicare, minus the deductible, plus free drugs and close the money sucking monster that is the VA. We can start balancing the budget.
Both Trump and Clinton campaigned on fixing the VA system. So did Obama, Bush, Bush, and the other Clinton. It`s too big to fix and way too broken. Thank you for your service!

I`m not a vet, so I obviously can`t speak from firsthand experience, but I feel like that would be the best solution as well.
