I went to a Woodford Reserve dinner at a Ruth`s Chris in Charlotte. Enjoyed having a few glasses of Woodford over a nice dinner.

Nothing fancy here, I always end up preferring Jack Daniels (black label). It was better (IMO) before they reformulated it back in...eh, forget, probably the `90s.

If any whiskey (specifically bourbon) drinkers are in Louisville [EDIT: KY as in, Kentucky], stop into the bar of the Seelbach Hotel. Incredible selection. Drinking various bourbons while eating oysters in the Seelbach Bar is one of life`s great pleasures, or at least it was..haven`t been there since Hilton bought it and I shudder to think of the "improvements" a modern hotel chain would`ve considered "necessary". (Seelback is where Zelda and F. Scott honeymooned.)

Buffalo Trace. I can`t believe no one mentioned it. Same distillery as Pappy, and I believe the same grain bill. Evan Williams single barrel is also very good for the price. I tend to like big bodied, full flavored bourbon. Basil is good, but lacks the mouthful that I`m looking for.

Sheep Dip. I know, I know, terrible name. But look anywhere there are reviews, the stuff is outstanding. Incredibly smooth and very reasonably priced. I`m on my 4th bottle. Its my go-to when I don`t feel like shelling out for a single malt (Glenfiddich, my favorite)

    Re: Any bourbon/whiskey drinkers here?

Gee, lots of stuff getting mentioned that I`ve never even heard of.

Accumulatorette mixes her Manhattens with..get this..Kentucky Tavern! That stuff is almost as nasty as the Old Forester I drank as a kid, but somehow makes that drink taste exactly the way she likes it.

Scotch- I have an *old* bottle of pre-Pinch Haig & Haig (the pinched bottle but before they started capitalizing on the nickname) that I use to toast my departed People of Significance when they pass (while reciting a passage from Dowling`s The Revel). The label is inscribed with their names and dates-of-death...sigh, both the label and the whiskey are getting used up. If I continue to outlive everybody I care about I`ll eventually switch to an equally old bottle of H&H 5 Star.

Ah Crap. I knew I was forgetting something! I usually buy at least one bottle of Buffalo Trace a month. Great stuff indeed. It has been on sale a lot at my local grocery store too so that is a plus.
