I appreciate the suggestion. Meguiar`s solution is okay but I akin it to an automobile having a recall. It`s great and all, but it suggests a larger problem. I feel Meg`s should be testing their batches before it hits the consumer. I won`t roll the dice with them anymore. I am critical when it comes to services and products.

Personally, I feel like that`s an unrealistic attitude, especially for a large mass production outfit like Meguiar`s. I`m sure they, or whoever is manufacturing their stuff, does quality checks of some sort. To expect a manufacturer of any kind of product to catch 100% of any type non conforming item is just downright wishful thinking. Out of the hundreds - if not thousands - of products I`ve ever gotten from them, this is the only one I can recall having any kind of issue that I`d attribute to manufacturing defect.

The fact that they`ve addressed it, and are making moves to remedy the problem says a lot. Is it worth it to me to try and recoup ~$14? Probably not. But will it keep me from using their stuff in the future? No.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.

If they are getting too big to ENSURE a quality product, then I`m out. I`ve had more problems with Meguiar`s than I`ve had with my vehicle.

Noting that I`m not a big Meguiar`s supporter for, uhm...personal reasons, they do have some great offerings that I`d hate to be without.

Whatever approach works for people is fine with me, and I do know from getting fed up, but I`ve never had problems getting defective Meguiar`s products replaced by the vendors. One phone call or email has always handled it just fine.

    Re: Confessions Thread

As far as problems with the fragrance/small of Meg`s Quik Interior Detailer, please see the thread:
    http://www.autopia.org/forums/car-de...l?highlight=\\
    Edit: Link is broken

I think any "problem" that a consumer has had with a product or item, big or small, that they`ve purchased and used needs to report that problem back to the manufacture. Without that feedback, the manufacturer cannot know that there is a problem and what steps need to be taken to "fix" or correct the problem as associated processes that may have caused the problem. In this day of consumer satisfaction and customer service, it is the customer who need to start that process of communication. Did I do this with my bad bottle of Meg`s QID? NO!! I returned it to the place I bought it (Walmart, where else) and started the above thread.(Talk about confessions of a hypocrite!) Does that mean I would not use Meg`s products because of this incident? NO!! Because it`s a `small` item.

Vehicles are a different item because of the money involved. I had "problems` with a `84 Ford Mustang SVO and never returned to own a USA car company`s vehicle again until I bought my Mom`s `06 Ford FreeStyle because she could no longer drive it.

    My point is that:
    1) Its the responsibility of the customer/consumer to report problems back to the manufacturer;
    2) The size of the investment/money spent and the cost of the problem and what it caused to the consumer will determine if you return to that manufacturer again in the future.

I started my first Stephen King novel ever this weekend and so far I`m 100% hooked. I figured I`d take a break away from non-fiction and try something new. I`m really glad I have so far.

Consumer feedback is great but I`m not going to be a company`s quality inspector. I expect the price I pay for, no matter the amount, an item to include covering the costs of quality control. Seems fair, I think.

I bet with all the stink I`ve raised from Meg`s QID stinkin` that if it where Griots, they would have chimed in by now. I`m going to start looking at the Griots line harder now. Do they have good interior products? Any feedback would be appreciated!

I wipe my whole interior down with onr and dry with a clean MF. Perfect every time. To go from dash to glass without changing anything is pretty good for me.

That sounds smart. Thanks for replying. I think I`ll give it a try. I checked here and don`t see a Griot`s interior product.

OTOH...and noting that I remain a huge Griot`s fan and have done business with them since the days when Richard answered the phone himself in the kitchen...

I once sent back a large quantity of stuff I bought from them that had proven unsatisfactory. I only did it *after* one of their Customer Service reps urged me to do so. Composed a detailed explanation of why each returned item was unsatisfactory (didn`t spend just one hour on that either). Told them they could issue a refund or a Store Credit, whichever they preferred. Mentioned how I remained a loyal GG customer, etc. etc.

They promptly quit sending me catalogs. For years. Said I wasn`t in their customer database when I called to place an order. Still didn`t send catalogs after I placed numerous subsequent orders (had to look at the ones they sent my wife). Rinse/repeat for a few years, then apparently all was forgiven and I was back on their mailing list.

I have always said how I like Richard and am a GG supporter (and note this was not a popular position here at Autopia a few years ago). But they don`t *always* walk on water.

Which one? I used to be a big Stephen King fan (along with Dean Koontz). All of his early books were great. I loved "It" and "The Stand" is outstanding. "The Stand" will be a movie soon, but I`m afraid it will pale in comparison to the book.

The Stand and Needful Things are on my to-read list. I`m currently reading 11/22/63.
