    Duck tape hacks

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzFYsKoWsDY

I just got done fixing my ripped beach chair with Gorrilla tape .We will see how long it will hold my body weight!

I have fixed numerous things with duck tape and always have some on hand . Sometimes just a temporary fix but great to use on the fly.

Works great on ripped clothes too for an emergency!

Duct tape in general. I dont use a certain brand although my last few repairs have been w Gorrilla tape and that is a different animal. So far several double layers of Gorrilla tape has held all 115 pounds of me. I would not be surprised one day if it fails but for now its holding up!
Ive been lectured before on calling it duck tape but thats what I like to call it . Either way you say it it comes out like duck.

I think you could have used Scotch Cellophane tape, 115 lbs. pffft.

    Re: Duck tape hacks

The name itself is an interesting dilemma for sure. Is it duct or duck?

Being the professional historian that I am, and it`s confirmed by Snopes.com also, it`s actually Duck tape because shortly after the tape was invented in 1942 as a waterproof tape, ducks would use the tape for their three legged races during family functions and picnics. The waterproof quality of the tape proved advantageous for the little duckies, enhancing their winning ways and success at family gatherings.

It was just a few weeks ago I saw it in action again. A buddy sent me one of those email pictures of the police officer in some American city escorting momma duck in the front and her ducklings at the back safely across the busy street. A beautiful and touching picture highlighting both the nurturing mother and her charges and the humanity of of our law enforcement officers. As I looked carefully at the last two little ducklings, I started to giggle, just a bit, because those last two had their outside legs taped together and they were doing the `quack - quack - waddle - waddle` walk. I could tell by the shine on the tape that momma probably spritzed it with a dash of ONRWW prior to the walkie.

Yup, even duckie babies goof off when momma isn`t looking.

So, QED, duck tape. End of lesson, sort of.

The story I heard on the history channel on a modern marvels episode on duck tape was during WW2 it was used for temporary repairs on the amphibious landing crafts AKA duck hence the name duck tape. It wasn`t used for duct work till after WW2.

My grandfather on my dad`s side fixed everything with Goop. Wasn`t a thing in this world he couldn`t fix with a little goop. Walk through the house, and there`s no telling how many things you`d come across held together by goop. At my other grandfather`s wake today, my dad informed me that they actually buried his dad with a tube of goop, because it just seemed like the right thing to do.
