It`ll be interesting to see if that does result in protests...hope springs eternal and all that. Nice that the Authorities apparently got this one right. IIRC, FL is a Castle Doctrine state.

I finally got the chance to make this trunk pad. I was in between designs for awhile but liked this the best.

Should make cleaning sand out of the trunk easier.

Don`t have an accident and get ticketed in Clay, NY (Syracuse). Just cost me $245 for a failure to yield. Ouch!

Ah, OK. One of those things it pays to know in advance.

Ohio is sometimes really awful on this one, but then my wife and I aren`t gonna leave The Safe Place to go find trouble in some other part of the house so it`s not a personal issue for me. I`m glad it worked out OK for that woman though.

Dunno GA laws, but by the vid, she actually went after them. In CT that`s a no-no, since they are trying to "retreat".

Do you have any more pics of this? How`d you make one? I`m looking for a solution now to my cargo area before I order a WeatherTech Cargo Liner.

Nautical- Does your (very attractive and well-fitting!) mat have raised edges to contain [stuff]?

The raised edges on my WeatherTech Cargo Liners are great, but I gotta watch that they don`t get deformed/etc. and flop over allowing spills. And they can be sharp enough to cut the dogs` dewclaws, so I keep them covered (which contributes to the deformation...vicious circle in my case).

I think I`d prefer your type of mat for the dogs, and the high-edge ones for hauling nasty materials.

    Here`s a couple.

This particular mat is only 6mm thick and is made of high density foam.

    The edges.

I made this through work as a custom one off piece. We`ve made trunk pads before for people, but it`s not something we advertise.

Thanks for the compliment. My mat doesn`t have a raised edge and is flat with a rounded edge. But if I wanted I could make a router border about 1" from the edge for dirt to get caught in. I technically could have a raised edge but it wouldn`t be ideal or. in my opinion, look as good.

If either of you are wanting more information then shoot me a PM, I don`t want to advertise here out of respect for PBMG. I am a designer for the company so I can help out in that regard as well depending on how crazy you want to go. I`d also say price wise it will more than likely be more expensive than WeatherTech, but it will be one of a kind. If you guys want to, shoot me a PM and I`ll try to provide a more in depth overview of how it works and what I can do.

Also, it is dog friendly Accumulator, even being foam.

    Re: Random thoughts thread

Nautical- Thanks for explaining. For people not needing the raised border those oughta be great. That lip it has oughta work well for containing "little stuff" like most people probably deal with.
