Re: Random thoughts thread
Is there ever a good time of year to drive the Tail of the Dragon? An, "off season"?
I`ve thought about doing a road trip down that way, but too many times I`ve had some well planned back road adventures ruined by slow moving locals and/or packs of tourists.
Most recent example was a solo road trip home from my inlaws and I diverted my route through some seriously spectacular roads around Eureka Springs, AK. I even selected a Sunday morning before the shops opened and the weather was cooler than normal. Still ended up behind a couple busses which were hard to pass, and the final insult of some old guy in a 70`s vintage F-150 doing 25~30MPH. The roads where I caught him have no pull outs and are WAY to twisty to attempt a safe pass unless you have far more power than my GTI. I spent an hour screaming at my steering wheel while watching the best roads I`ve ever traversed slowly pass by.

I went June 22 during the week.
Great time.

I think not taking the reindeer antlers and Rudolf’s red nose off your Prius by April should be a ticketable offense

Yeah I would stay off the roads in that area during the coldest weather. Anything above 40 degrees should be ok. Fall is the prettiest but precarious on a bike due to wet leaves. Probably fine in a car. Never been in a car, but bike maybe 7 times.

Get a warm day, and still it`s horrible. 32mph sustained winds. Gusts over 60mph. Today is trash day and garbage blowing all over the neighborhood. Ugh!

Aw gee, you got *those* kind of people for neighbors, huh? We have one family like that near us..any trash shows up we know whose it was...
Re: Random thoughts thread
RIP Pathfinder :( it started misfiring on the highway so I had it towed and just got word from the shop that it looks like a piston ring @ 135k miles.

Most likely will just trade her in. I`d like a small truck or SUV....in a manual would be great. Maybe a Colorado or F150.

I had to bungee cord my trash can to the mailbox post to keep it from blowing over.

im sorry to hear that. That really sucks.
Re: Random thoughts thread
Dispatch- That`s good thinking! Ours is always full enough that it stays put. Are your trash pickup guys OK with having to unbungie it?
RaysWay- Gee, sorry to hear about that! I`m a little surprised that you`re gonna get rid of it over that...

yes there really good about stuff like that. There a small local company, not someone like waste management. They pride themselves on service to compete with the big guys.
Re: Random thoughts thread
coleroad- Ah, good. We use a Big Co. but fortunately a little tip at the Holidays seems to go a long way with the crew that does my route. And I gotta say that the Co. is *very* good about info regarding delays/etc. and getting such stuff sorted out...some management change a few years ago basically made everything perfect, lucky me.

Ron, interesting that the Festival provides a Sporting Clays shoot but says no weapons permitted. ;)
