This year I put my foot down on pricing and it feels more like foot in mouth with two paid details so far all year long. Very discouraging but I know I need to advertise and seek new clients.

Well, it`s only the end of March, so you have 9 more months !
Did you find the nicest Independent Shop that repairs really nice cars - like German cars - and go sell yourself to them ?
Or go to the nicest, usually gated community, find their Clubhouse, or Yacht Club House, etc., and see if you can buy some Ad space in their monthly letter to the homeowners ?
Or at the least, leave a bunch of your business cards there and sweet talk the lady into making sure they get out ? :)
Eventually all those people you did work for will need it again and they will be by...
Yes, it will take some form or a few forms of advertising now.. Good luck, Brandt, you can do this..

I told my 16 year old son, I`d like to wash the Buick, but it`s snowing. He said " you think the car is dirty even when it`s clean". Obviously he thinks I`m obsessed with cleaning the cars.
This was in the parking lot at work today. I would be livid.

Wonder if all those PostIts ended up as litter, blowing around the parking lot, as some already have. The owner might not realize they`re a potential issue until running the windows down or using the wipers...hope there`s no residue/issue at all, maybe it`ll be OK.
Actually, I *do* get the cutesy aspect/intent of it, just hope it`s something to chuckle about rather than rant (that residue issue). I know plenty of folks who wouldn`t be upset, so...eh, whatever.
You and me both...but then I suspect that people know better than to try that kind of thing on, uhm...some of us.Quote:

Bill D- Unless that car has a good LSP I bet they`re not the tenacious ones..too many already blown off.
We haven`t tried those yet, doubt we will so I hope they keep making the regular ones (Accumulatorette goes through a gazillion of the tiny ones with her copy-editing).
No idea. I thought maybe the red/pink on the windshield was supposed to be a heart? I say work as it was on base. Not MY specific work/area...
And I am certain there are no worries of that happening to my car.
The cold, wet weather is really getting old. I`ve got yard work to do, cars that need to be washed/detailed, and I`m REALLY getting tired of driving on my winter tires!
Accumulatorette is quite the authority on English by any standards ... and I simply *LOVE* it! Her perfect diction was one of the first things to get my attention all those years ago. Note she`s *NOT* a, uhm...pedantic [jerk] about it, but then I don`t give her reason to be and I`m every bit as strident a grammarian/etc.
I just got called a crook because I require a deposit to schedule jobs now.
Too many no call no shows last year.
I stand my ground on this.
When people schedule my weekend and don`t show I am not only losing money from that job. I am losing money from not working OT at my day job and the subsequent loss that OT would have brought to my yearly bonus and 401k.
I can actually make more working a half day of OT than I can doing a basic interior/exterior anyways.
I even bent this deposit rule earlier in the year and got burned twice.

Stay strong Brandt. More time for your rides and OT
My wife said "You aren`t even listening are you?" I thought to myself, what an odd way to start a conversation.
