You`re way good, didn`t feel called out all. Just thought I`d clarify what I was saying. I don`t think these guns are high maintenance.

I couldn`t quite tell if there was an undertone or not so I figured I`d play it safe and make sure.

Depends on what you want. Start with a cheaper Bushmaster AR and check out Taurus or Diamondback pistols.

Yeah this post doesn`t really belong here but since we`re talking about those dang aluminum trucks. I saw this today.

I`d be really curious to see them do the same results on, let`s say.... 3-4 year old trucks that have been subjected to normal driving/mileage. The structural integrity of aluminum starts to degrade pretty much as soon as it starts to corrode, steel degrades a whole lot more slowly. They won`t do that though.

..You can bury an AK in sand pull it out and go shoot it, chances are it won`t miss a beat...

... I have a bunch of FNC`s FAL`s, AK`s and SKS`s they won`t shoot with an AR..My experience has shown time and again an AK won`t shoot the kind of groups an AR will...

Agree completely! ARs can shoot minute-of-angle while the others shoot minute-of-man One of those "different horses for different courses" sort of things.

I have no issue cleaning a gun after every trip to the range. Doesnt bother me at all.

Right, that`s mandatory. I guess I was thinking "extreme environment" situations that simply don`t apply to your case.

They are dirty but the biggest problem I`ve seen is people coating everything in oil. You might be able to get away with that on some firearms..

That *does* seem to be common. Plenty of folks have that "more is better" mindset about lubing their guns for some reason. Drop an over-lubed gun into the right type of dirt/sand/etc. and....

For that matter, ya don`t even have to drop it into the dirt if it`s really lubed-up.

Can you tell I`ve watched people [mess] with their malfunctioning firearms? It`s obviously made me a bit paranoid on the topic or reliability

Gotta love plastic guns and plastic cars..

Mid 80s, Glocks were catching fire in the US. I thought they were the ugliest brick Id ever seen. Everyone claimed the triggers were just to horrible to shoot and compared to a 1911 they are such a different experience but you get used to it. Mine all ended up with metal triggers and upgraded actions. Today they hold a place in my heart, I couldnt imagine not having some.

tropicsteve- Heh heh, you can probably guess the *exact* spot where that G23 would beat me up! Youre not the only guy I know who simply loves that model

GearHead_1- Yeah, I too have transitioned from "all 1911 all the time" to "sometimes a Glock is the exact right tool for the job". Things *have* changed a whole lot in the last few decades.

Like some other certain firearms, the Glocks *always* fire when you press the trigger. Which is more than you can say about a lot of guns that "never malfunction, not mine!"

Heh heh, regulars here are probably noticing a pattern here- Im all about complete reliability under extreme conditions these days. Not that I expect my gun to fall into a muddy slushpuddle full of sand at the worst possible moment, but hey its nice to know it wont matter.
