Swirl Finder Light?

Lowes has this Coast LED flashlight on special today fpr $19:

360-Lumen LED Handheld Battery Flashlight

Given you can slide focus bezel to use a broad flood beam or high powered spot beam it seems like a good swirl finder light option. Anyone have experience using this light? Or one like it?

The one problem you will find with lights at Lowe`s and Home Depot is the color of the LED. It doesn`t specify so it will probably be a really blue tint which doesn`t work really well as a swirl finder. I made this mistake buying a foursevens preon pen light. The preon tint is around 6k and has a light blue tint. On some paint colors it washes out the swirls. I later bought a zebralight 600 mkii with a neutral white tint and it works great on all paint colors. Look for a LED light with a neutral white tint and if doesn`t tell you, it isn`t.

Great point and exactly the issue I`ve had with my existing flashlights when I`ve tried to use as swirl finders. Thanks man! You just saved me $20

For anyone wondering, 5000k is the sweet spot for swirl finder lights. It`s the truest white you can get.

Anytime bud. If you decide to jump in the flashlight game Fenix, Zebralight, and Nitecore are all quality brands. Also try to stick with one that takes an 18650 battery.

Worth every penny! I carry a flashlight daily and you don`t realize how much you use one until you carry it.

I`ve had my eye on one of those 4000 Lumen Nitecore lights for awhile. Hopefully Santa noticed how nice I was this year lol.

I really want the Nitcore EC4SW.

I have the TK15 as well but haven`t used it much since I got the PD35, which has a slightly warmer color and wider beam. I believe it was something like 6500k vs. 5800k, but it`s been a while since I looked it up. .

The reason the 5k works better, is it as close to the natural color of the sun as you can get. Any lower looks more yellow, any higher looks more blue.

Years of experience keeping sal````er reef tanks taught me all about light color. All the fluorescent lights in my shop are 5k. Half the time, the stuff I see under the shop lights, I can`t see in the sun. But that`s a good thing.

As a side note the led lights on my reef are about 20k. Very blue.

Best bang for the bucks are Thrunites. There 2c v2 an 2n v2 are amazing bangs for the buck, both producing almost 1000 lumens, 5 modes and are powered by 1 18650, that said you need to get the battery separate.

I still like fenix the best (I have a PD30) but thrunite is incredible for the money.

Joe borough this light to my house on the night we polished and coated his windshield. It was dark and he proceeded to show the light output when the Optiglass was drying. My neighbor though there was a UFO landing.

1000 lumens will show you swirls that are on the inside of the sheetmetal. That was super bright.
