Dell PC tune up.

It was time! 8 years old. Windows 7. All done yesterday on line with microsoft. 1- year of tune ups etc. $249. Running great now! Sure it`s OLD, but they even mentioned you got a really good dell.

I would have bought a new Dell with Windows 10 which is out or due out shortly.



Global release date of WIN 10 is July 29, 2015.

As an IT guy an 8 year old machine is a doorstop. Ours see recycler at 3 years old when they go out of warranty.

I`ve never heard of an online tuneup but I`d say the price exceeded the worth of the machine.

Don`t feel bad. I am still running Windows XP on one of my desktops. Thanks god I have IPads and laptops.

My processor cost more than $249...

im curious as to how you manage to continue to use a 8 year old PC. With the specs required to run many programs and the average file size in this high def world, you had to of upgraded some components at some point.

Some people don`t need something brand new to browse the internet or the like. Most of the time I use a laptop from mid 2012, still works great, albeit it will need a memory upgrade with Windows 10, but that`s about it. Up to then I was using a computer that was built 6 years (2006 ish I think) prior with a processor that was essentially built 5 years prior to it. I would still use it on occasion had some of the caps on the motherboard not bloated causing failure a couple years ago. I just recently scrapped one of my daily computers that I built in 2001, same cap failure too...

Microsoft offers "FREE" Tune-ups and diagnostics if you visit any Microsoft Store with a Windows platform computer. If the support tech has to remote into your computer to do the same work, the meter starts running.

While Microsoft’s intentions appear to be genuine, it’s another opportunity for Microsoft to sell you additional services.

Apple is the same way if no Applecare, so it`s not like it`s special to Microsoft. They`re providing a service, they should charge.
