I have no intention of arguing for or against those four words. That said, I believe that a decade down the road. George W. will be seen in a more positive light than our current POTUS. Just a gut feeling.

    Does anyone recall 9/11?

Getting rid of Saddam did the region more harm than helped anyone in Iraq. A lot more civilians died during the war than would have until Saddam`s brutal regime. His absence left a void that left the area vulnerable and made Iran more powerful. The largest complaint is about ISIS where Obama fulfilled the deal signed by Bush to remove the troops from Iraq. Unless we retained a huge force, they still would have expanded. The fault there is with the Iraqi government here were Bush said we should let the people decide their government - as in Indiana Jones, they chose poorly.

Benghazi was not about being less safe (security had been a topic discussed in Congress and did not allocate more funds) but poor spin control after the event and stupid remarks by Hilliary for sounding insensitive. Consulates had been attacked multiple times under Bush but the casualties were usually locals so no one here paid as much attention.

As for the Iran deal, as long as we are ready to bomb Iran (I am sure Israel would) if they reach a point of where they do something we have that option.

I am sure Texas history books will be rewritten to show Bush as a savior as they rewrite all other history and science.

    Re: Trump 2016

"He kept us safe." Since no one else wants to do it.

When the Cole was hit in Yemen, we didn`t know who did it. By the time Bush took office we did and the Clinton administration handed Bush the names and addresses of the people responsible for that attack and the deaths of 27 sailors. They also handed him a plan prepared by the Joint Chiefs for going into Afghanistan and getting Bin Laden. Do you remember Bush doing that? Of course not, he didn`t. Also, Bush took away Richard Clarke, our counter terrorism coordinator`s cabinet level access. Remember all that hand wringing about lack of communication? That was why. Do you remember the Presidential Daily Briefing titled, "Osama Bin Laden determined to strike inside the United States."? The briefer from the CIA flew to Crawford, where Bush was clearing brush with Rice, to hand it to him in person. Let me tell you Bush`s response, "You`ve covered your ass, now go back to Washington." Remember all the times the Republicans yelled, "He`s wagging the dog with this counter terrorism stuff." All those times were when Clinton went after Bin Laden.

This is just the barest outline and if someone wants to get into it deeper I`ll take the time. You can bet if Jeb! is the nominee this will be just a snowflake on the tip of an iceberg.

After 9-11, the United States had almost everyone in the world behind us. "We are all Americans today." So, what did President Bush do with that good will and the opportunity to lead the world and create an internationally distributed response to the internationally distributed threat of terrorism?

The "Patriot Act" for one. And the Iraq war for another. Awhile back, the man from the CIA who was briefing President Bush every day came out and said the Bush administration was not telling the public what he was telling the President. Now there`s this.

What an utter mess the Bush White House got us into. As angry as that report makes me, the following is extremely sobering:

"According to the latest figures compiled by Iraq Body Count, to date more than 200,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed, although other sources say the casualties are twice as high. More than 4,000 US soldiers have been killed in Iraq, and tens of thousands more have been injured and maimed. The war has cost US taxpayers more than $800 billion."

    Trump 2016

Bush 41 in his auto biography said that his son Bush 43 was ill advised by Cheney and Rumsfeld, and unfortunately for the world...Bush 43 agreed with them.

To me, perhaps the greatest....uhm...tragedy...is that only a beast like Sadam could keep Iraq under control. The guy and his sons were monsters, but under them the country wasnt in chaos.

I have seen estimates that the war in Iraq will eventually end up costing taxpayers amounts in the trillions once the costs of caring for our injured soldiers are taken into account. They deserve every penny of it, but its sad that it never had to happen.
