my wife can`t accept a compliment!

Yesterday around 11am I was waxing my daughter`s car when out of the house came my wife. She was wearing a flannel nightgown, an unzipped winter coat(I was in shorts and a t shirt), BIG BLUE fuzzy slippers and her hair going in every direction but where it`s supposed to be. I looked up at her and although I was tempted to say trick or treat I chose to say"you`re still as hot looking as you were when I first met you". To me that sounded like a compliment. To her I was a smart mouth. She gave me the look, said I wasn`t as funny as I thought I was got whatever she needed out of her car and returned to the house. No thank you,no kiss,no I love you. What did I say that was wrong?

You did nothing wrong!! You gave the best answer that a good husband can give. Do not ever stop saying things like that or other wise you will really get the cold shoulder. Often times it is not what they say, Rabbi. It is what they remember.

If your wife is liike my wife...she remembers EVERYTHING!!

Perhaps she just has a lot on her mind trying to prepare for your grand-daughter`s first Christmas?

Maybe the look on my face or the fact that she knows me had something to do with her accepting the sincerity of my verbiage. Could it be she mistook it as sarcasm?

Every woman including my wife would have that same response. They know they look they just walked out of a wind tunnel and they can`t except the fact that their man we would actually pay them a compliment like that. You know in a little way you are trying to be funny by making that compliment and they pick up on that. I`m always getting that look.

She was probably expecting the the "Trick or treat" comment (I know my wife would have) so she figured that you were being sarcastic.
Just remeber to say how hot she looks in 20 years and you`ll be a hero :hug:

My wife remembers little things that I said 10 years ago, they remember every thing (that they want to). :fear:

I would have went with the trick or treat or looked at her and said.....Honey...that look is the reason why I married you......I say stuff like that to my wife all the time...mostly its about a body part or two that I`m talking about
