Up here in Toronto Canada I was paying $1.50 a liter couple months back;that was for Sunoco 94

Right now we are paying around $0.90 a liter for regular!

If I stay out of boost, I manage to get 380km a tank, start boosting and that # drop well lower!

First off...:welcome to Autopia, fellow Canuck!

Second, aren`t prices a good deal less than that? Weren`t they like 78 cents or so? Maybe it`s different in the city itself.

    Scott,

Thanks for posting the good news! The good news seems to get overlooked, but people rarely miss the opportunity to gripe about the bad news when the price goes up.

We were at $2.22 today ($2.29 yesterday) for 87 octane, but we had a summertime high of $4.75 - so we are doing better than half price from then.

So glad to see it down, but people shouldn`t just run out and use the guzzlers again.

its cheap because we`re in a recession. and its also an indicator of deflation. deflation means companies receive less money for their products, and have tighter margins, meaning ppl get laid off...whys everyone so happy?

If it stays low, people will revert to old habits, and then the price will escalate again. I predict it stays relatively low during the winter to get people well used to driving gas guzzlers again, and then it will go insane next summer when everyone is driving more. We seem to be more than willing to sell out to foreign countries when it comes to oil, as long as they keep it cheap.

In the meantime, demand/production of hybrids and plug-ins will increase and decrease in a predictable but jagged manner.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

It`s good (great) that gas is low-ER, but it`s funny how they have us thinking that $1.88 a gallon is cheap.

It is cheap because speculators grossly overvalued the price of oil. Everyone involved with oil from refining on won`t see much of a reduction in profits. In fact, they may see more, especially gas stations since with lower prices they pay, they can add on a few cents more profit they couldn`t when prices were higher.

Not much of a recession here in north Texas anyway. In fact, Texas added jobs in October. :heelclick
