I`ve noticed that the photography bug afflicts the same type of people who find detailing cars rewarding.

    So what do you shoot?

    Body: Canon 40D

Lens: 17-85 USM IS (Walk around)

    70-200mm f/2.8 USM IS ( On it`s way from B&H )

Tripod: Bogen / Manfrotto with a Midi Ball head.

    Filters: B+W CP, ND, UV

    Memory: x2 Lexar Pro UDMA 4GB 300X

    Bag: Tamrac Adventure 9

I`ve only had my 40D for about a month now, it was my 30th Birthday present to myself.

    Nikon D200

    Lens: 50mm 1.8, 70-200mm and 18-70mm

    Flash: SB800

    Strobes: Alien Bees

I need to buy a few new lenses - would love the Nikkor 70-200 VR but $1700 for a lens is a bit much. B&H is a great store - if you ever have the chane to go, GO. Its unreal how the operation works.

I was there at the start of the month, I was able to get a layover at Newark so I took the train in and was blown away by how big the place was. After talking with the pro`s I made the decision to go with the L glass rather than the F 4.0 version. Plus with the rebates at the moment it wasn`t so hard to find that extra money.

That canon lens you picked is a real nice piece of glass. What do you like to shoot? I do some porttraits but I prefer landscapes and stills. I found photography, like car detailing, to be very, very theraputic. If you need a place to store your pics, check out SmugMug Photo Sharing. Your photos look better here. - great site and very cheap, something like $50/yr for unlimted storage.

I`m more into landscape and architecture I find shooting people fun but too subjective. It`s something that started as a need for work and turned into a hobby. I really need to spend more time working with my 40D the learning curve is a bit higher than expected and the controls are not natural to me yet. I think it`s going to take a few more months before they become 2nd nature. As for that lens I ordered it specifically for my trip to the Montreal F1 race in two week! n Thanks for the link right now I still keep my own webspace Simon & Kristin Matthews Photography I`m just putting the sight back together after a server error destroyed it last month.

For me: Canon XTi + Tamron 18-250 = pretty fun package

I really want a better walk around lens, like the 24-105, but these work pretty good for me right now.

I was a Canon man (owned original F-1 for a long time) but my wife picked up the habit and went to Nikon D70s and nice lenses. We still have a Canon S3 IS that is great for macros. It seems silly for me to go with Canon DSLR now.
