I don`t have a CarFax account, but just FYI make sure you still do your due diligence before buying the car.

A car I recently traded in had a clean car fax, but the whole thing had been repainted and both bumpers and the passenger side door skin had been replaced.

It`s actually for my truck, I want to see if my wreck has shown up on the carfax. Other than Carfax, the repair is so good you would never know, not even the finest autopian.

IDK if it`s the same in your area, but when I went to trade in my car all the dealers I went to (probably around 4 different dealerships) had paint thickness meters. So, they all knew what parts of the car had been repainted (the whole thing

). They also checked the panel edges and felt they were rough. So, it doesn`t really matter how well the paint matches. There are a lot of ways to indentify a re-paint.

Basically my point is that a good paint job and a clean CarFax will only help you if you`re trying to sell it to the public.

Good luck! I just went through the new car buying process and when you have a trade in with some paint work done it makes an already tricky negotiation even more difficult. So, I just wanted to let you know the lengths that car dealers are going to these days to safeguard themselves.
