Silicone lubricant vs. Lithium grease

I have a bottle of white lithium grease that I`ve always been using to lubricate my door hinges and such. Today I saw some silicone spray lubricant and bought it for the heck of it. I understand the silicone does not attract dust/dirt, which is a big plus for the antenna of our Acura which is having trouble retracting all the way down. Other than that, what are the disadvantages and advantages of both silicone grease and white lithium grease? Which is a better choice for hinge lubrication?

I also like the lithium grease for my hinges

but the silicone lube is great for your weatherstrips, cleans, protects, keeps them soft!

I find that the lithium grease gets all over and is very greasy. It often deters me from detailing the door jambs and those areas because I`m worried about destroying my MF towels. From what I know, the silicone is not very greasy or wet as opposed to the lithium grease. I was thinking about using silicone instead of lithium. Do you guys think that would be a good idea?

Thanks for the advice about the weatherstripping, BigJim. I`ll be applying it to the rubber seal areas around the doors and such.

you can try it it will prob work Ok

it it not a heavy duty lube like a grease so you might have to use it more offen

I thought silicone was bad for rubber? Or am I thinking about something else? Not to hijack the thread, but I`ve been looking for a replacement to BMW Gummipfledge which they don`t sell anymore.

The silicone spray is great for lubing and conditioning weatherstriping foam and door locks, thats about it. Stick with white or lithium grease for door hinges and latches.
