Nice shots so far Josh, glad your liking the S2 IS I really like that pano :xyxthumbs

To blur the background set your camera to the max aperture, should be like f/2.8 or f/3.5 on your camera. That should give you the most shallow DOF. I know there are ways to do it in Photoshop too, I just don`t know how.

Thanks! I will give that a try tomorrow...Cant wait till I get my telephoto lens and my filters - Never knew photography could be so fun Im hoping I catch on fast with all the settings!

John: Since you helped me out I figured I would do a search for you; here are some links talking about faking the DOF with Adobe Photoshop

Very nice. I like that flying duck one a lot. Were these taken on Auto mode or did you change some stuff around?

I finally figured out how to get all my settings; here are the settings for the flying duck picture:

    Photo Effect

    Off

    Tv (Shutter Speed)

    1/500

    Av (Aperture Value)

    3.5

    Light Metering

    Center Weighted Avg.

    ISO Speed

    50

    Lens

    6.0 - 72.0mm

    Focal Length

    26.8mm

    Digital Zoom

    None

    IS Mode

    On

    Image Size

    2048x1536

    Image Quality

    Fine

    Flash

    On

    Flash Type

    Built-In Flash

    Red-eye

    On

    Shutter curtain sync

    1st-curtain

    White Balance

    Auto

    AF Mode

    Continuous AF

    Drive Mode

    Single-frame shooting

For the duck I kept trying to walk towards him so he would fly away - but he just kept walking and quaking at me Finally we got him to fly lol - we have about 5 ducks in our pond everyday so they should make for good practice

Wow animes2k, way to make us all look inferior

Those are some great shots all around, I especially like the portraits. Would you mind sharing what lenses and light setup you used from them, or are they a No. E studios secret?

That figher looks Ken Shamrock; and the 5th model down is pretty hot

thanks Johnny. detailing, photography and design are my passions (not necessarily in that order).

For lighting and lenses, it`s really a mixed bag. The last model shot (gold dress gray background) was done with a set of elinchromes, I believe. The rest were shot with my Alien Bees (400, 800) with umbrellas, softboxes or spot grids. The girl with the blue shirt was shot with my home built ring light. Lenses vary in those shots from 50/1.8, 85/1.8, 28-135/3.5-5.6, 70-200/2.8...

The fighters were at the ITKF karate tournament in Davos, Switzerland in 2004 (my brother was competing) with representatives from about 40 countries. The Brazilians and Italians were the big winners for the men. Italy and Poland for the women, I believe.

Andrea IS a very attractive girl. Always a popular model

From a cruise we went on in August `04. These are all entering into port in Mazatlan Mexico.

This one is from the tender looking back at the ship in the harbor of Cabo san Lucas.
