It`s a shame Ron no longer posts here.

Yeah, but I do understand how, uhm...certain [individuals] and their, uhm...viewpoints...get to him. After all, his nickname *is* "Grumpy". He`s put up with enough [stuff] over the course of his career that he doesn`t need any more aggravation. Heh heh, given our, uhm...not entirely infrequent differences.. I`m just glad he and I have always gotten along just fine.

I miss TOGWT too, although he and I certainly didn`t see eye to eye on much...rather different World Views.

I also have different world views than TOGWT. I did respect his technical expertise and his explanations of them.

There are alot of people that have tons of knowledge and experience on this forum. All one has to do is ask.

I found it fascinating when someone asked a question, gets a detailed answer, then tells Grumpy he`s wrong. He doesn`t know everything, but I believe what he does know is pretty much gospel.

What he knows is almost always based on actual documented experiences and his views were considered good enough for the automakers. IMO that`s a pretty high hurdle to top! When he and I disagreed it was primarily about "Autopian vs. Regular Joe" stuff and/or unusual situations where he was basically saying "don`t generalize to the greater population based solely on your individual experiences".

And yeah...if you`re gonna say that an answer to your Q is wrong, that kinda implies that you had a preconceived answer in mind before asking said Q. Hmm...

I just saw TOGWT`s blog after doing a google search. Looks like he`s around and writing. Even saw a photo of him.

Ron Ketchum posts every now and then on some Facebook detailing pages.

He can get quite abrasive, it always makes for good reading of replies.

Heh heh, almost enough to get me to check FB. But nah...never.

I`m betting that most of his, uhm...cantankerousness..gets directed at people who genuinely have it coming. I mean, sheesh...for all the times that he and I disagreed we never had *ONE MOMENT* of problem on either side of the fence. Not one.

There’s a ton of other talent in these pages that have paved the way for this forum...

But Ron & Jon are 2 very knowledgeable, but different guys. A shame this place (all forums really) kinda wore so many out. Facebook is a much easier place to browse, but doesn’t have the nostalgia Autopia has accumulated. Ironic thing is that the original Facebook detailing groups (Detail Buddies namely) have taken the same turn as the forums and caused tons of other groups to get established diluting the participation.
