Backing Plates for G9 polisher

Will the backing plates used on a PC 7424 polisher work on the Griots G9? Will I need to buy all new backing plates to use the G9?

The plate for the g9 was designed especially for the larger throw and to take advantage of the additional cooling features of the machine. While the plate will fit the machine, it will not be as smooth and may accelerate pad wear.
