    Questions on Finishing Sealant/Poly Wax

    Just a few questions:

I am thinking of using the finishing sealant - OK to use on a LC white pad? Also, can be be topped with Poly Wax after say, 12 hours?

Also, as far as maintaining Poly Wax - Is the new BOS Detail Spray ok?

    Thanks.

What is the difference in the Finishing Sealant in the BOSS line and the older One Step Sealant? The description sounds the same but there must be some difference. Which one is likely to last longer as a final step sealant?

I wish I could tell you the exact differences, but I’m not exactly sure. If memory serves, I believe the BOSS finishing sealant is designed to be compatible with the higher heat that can be created from the long throw machines.

I do know I’ve seen the finishing sealant listed as lasting 3-6 months whereas the one step sealant they claim upwards of a year.

Haven’t personally used the finishing sealant, but I have used the one step sealant with good results. Unfortunately I’m not at the level of a lot of the guys on here to be able to quote exact water/dirt behavior over a long timeframe, I can just tell you my experience with it has been positive. When I’ve used it, I’ve always topped it with their premium carnauba paste wax (love that stuff too!). On the Mrs’ car, After a Minnesota winter (with multiple automatic car wash visits), you could still tell there was protection in place as it was noticeably slick when hand washing compared to a non OSS’d car.

    Hope this helps.

Finishing sealant has the same micro abrasive as the other boss creams. It also can be used as a one step on any of the boss pads. I’ve done one steps with the microfiber pad with excellent results. You can follow up right after with poly wax with no problem.

I called Griot`s garage a couple of times with unrelated questions about other products but did ask each time which product Poly-wax or One step sealant was longer lasting and both times was told it was the Poly-wax. I still find that hard to believe.

Hard to believe that an AIO is less durable than a dedicated sealant?

Hmmm... perhaps I`m missing something here

Maybe you are. Maybe it`s me, but I`m figuring that a poly WAX blend would not be as durable as an AIO. Actually, I used to use Klasse AIO years ago and that protection held up for months on my non garaged cars. About a year ago, I bought and tried the Poly-wax on my wife`s 10 y/o Outback and was not impressed with the durability at all - certainly way less durable then the Klasse. Hence, my question and surprise.

Despite the name... there is no "WAX" in Griots Liquid Poly Wax

Hence, my source of confusion and question`s to Griot`s about this product.
And part of their description doesn`t help. "Insane gloss, unbelievable protection, and effortless removal are the calling cards of this technically advanced synthetic wax.".
