Mainstays 2 Pack Ultra Fine Waffle Weave Microfiber Kitchen Towels

    16in. x 26in. Made in China

    77% polyester 23% polyamide

These towels feel nice and soft even before a washing. They feel MUCH softer than the Eurow WW`s sold in Costco in the towel section.

They passed the "CD test." I wiped lightly, then harder and harder, etc... until it took a scrubbing of the CD to scratch it. So I feel it should be safe on paint since you won`t be rubbing hard or scrubbing your car dry.

    For $2.96 for 2 towels, I bought 4 packs (8 towels)

I bought some of these towels ..washed them and they are soft...after a rain I took one out to see how they absorb and they did great....not bad for less than 3.00 for 2 ....make great interior cleaners also.

I`m a sucker for a good bargain... so I bought a couple of packs of these towels and upon further inspection, a few of the towels actually had "hard" corners. It looked like they were heated slightly to help stop them from fraying. Not all of the towels had them so check yours out before you put them on the paint. Otherwise, pretty good towels for the money... though admittedly, I probably won`t be using them for heavy duty detailing.

    My $0.02 worth for today...

Bingo! Me too, I noticed that as well on a couple of towels which leads me to believe the edging may marr the finish. But the towel portion itself passed the "cd test."

Like you, I won`t be using them for hardcore paint work, but interiors, windows, catching drips here and there as well as drying bumpers, wheels, lower rockerpanels, etc...

Costco also sells 10 pack WW`s in the towel section made by Eurow O`Reilly that are much stiffer but good for what I just mentioned.

Your post made me think of wash mitts. A good way to check your cotton chenille wash mitts to see if they are 100% cotton is to pluck a fiber and burn it. If it turns black and hard plastic-like, then I wouldn`t use on paint. If it burns up into a gray ash and blows away, then it is 100% cotton and safe for paint.

good tip guys-I checked mine and a couple had 1 thread heated so I simply snipped the edge with scissors. Interestingly I have some microtex detailing towells and a few of them had quite hard edges-so I snipped them as well.

They work fine for me. havent tried them on a Black car yet. Tomorrow I have a Black BMW 530i. I`ll try them out on a lower section of the car and see what happens. Worst case senario, I`ll hit it with some #82 with a polishing pad, that is if it scratches the surface. We`ll see.

I picked up a couple of these from WalMart today. They are much nicer than you`d think. I had to snip a few hard threads off the corners too but nice towels overall. I`m planning on going back and buying more.
