That is just rubber, not leather.... you`ll be plenty safe with a little diluted APC and a toothbrush to clean it as long as you have the body cap in place to protect the optics.
Just spray the APC on the toothbrush so you can control how much "liquid" you`re dealing with and avoid getting the controls wet to any worrisome degree.
I`ve cleaned my 60D many times this way and never had a problem. The bodies may not be sealed like some of the more expensive Canons, but they`re still pretty tough and can stand up to some abuse.
