minor scratches

I`ve noticed only after 6k miles that this black B pillar cover on teh S4 and the one in the rear passenger side quarter inserts swirl quite easily. And I know I`m not swirling it with my techniques or anything like that.

Any suggestions?

I`m not an S4 owner but I play one on TV

actually I have the same type of pillar on my Passat. Are you asking how to lose the swirls, how prevent them, or how you got them? I know at least that`s the part of the car that I touch to close the door.

The same routine for these puppies goes for your paint. I have found however that the black does rub off on the towel a little with the use of physical abrasives like SMR, but it`s all good. I sealed mine up with Klasse and hoped for the best

What a pain that piece is. "Breathe" on it and it will scratch.

I used some Pinnacle Paintwork cleanser to take care of most, not all, the swirls and then used a couple coats of Z5 which did a good job of hiding most of the swirls. No all, but most.

That piece is incredibly delicate.

Good deal! Be sure you got the latest upgraded mounting brackets. They have been out a month so if you just got the swaybar you are probably fine.

Yes, they are the new brackets, but they are also more expensive...

Hey guys,
While washing the car, I notice some minor scratches, that is , they appear to be in the clear coat only. How is the best method for getting rid of them.
Also, as a new guy to this forum who likes to detail his own car, what would be the best small machine polisher to purchase as an arsenal to mitigate scratches?

OK, its a 2009 metallic silver Venza. At the moment I only have about 6200 miles on it. I suspect the scratches are from last winter and the use of a snow
removal brush. I tried to be careful too. There are about 3 locations with these light scratches. I `m going to look for a better brush this coming winter.

How deep are the scratches? Can you feel them with your fingernail?

If they are not through to the base, you should be able to buff them out. Try M105 with a 4" cutting pad. Obviously, you will have better results with a rotary, but depending on how deep the scratch is, you might be able to remove it with a DA.

As Bryan said, if you post a couple of pictures, we might be able to get more specific.

They are not in the base as I can tell. I can`t figure out how to up load pics. Was there a box not checked in my profile?
Any recommendations on a small rotary from these guys? I`ll order it all today. I have a big arse variable speed Dewalt
