Hi everybody
i need some help regarding my first polishes and pads.
I`ve managed to get a rotary thru my bro-in-law, with the following specs:
* 1300 Watts, 230V motor
* 180mm dia. backing pad
* Operating speed - 1000rpm (polishing/compounding) to 3000rpm (sanding).
* velcro rubber backing pad
* Special D shaped handle & spring loaded spindle lock
* Dimensions: L475 x W312 x H200mm (with handles & disc fitted)
* Weight: 5kg
(:doh: can`t believe what my bro-in-law bought me though told him to get the makita ut
The machine will be in very soon, so i`d like to have your advice on the polishes and pads to be used.
I feel going for meguiar`s icw the polishes and the pads, either LCountry or meguiars
i know the topic`s been discussed time and again but the endless array many of pads and polishes makes me
i `m waiting for your guidance :wizard:and suggestions:wizard:
:Gift: thanks a lot
Pads and polishes hugh? You know that you could be opening up a can of worms here? Just kidding. There will be many different answers to your question though.
It all depends on your needs. Are you doing just your car, or are you doing for others as well? What is the condition of the paint, etc.?
Here is a good starting point.
Polish: Megs M105/205. You just cant go wrong with this combo! I don`t think you will need it at first, but you might also want to get a good finishing polish like Menzerna PO85rd or 106FA.
Pads: I have been using the LC H2O pads with good success. I think they also work better with a rotary. You can also use the Classic Flat pads (a big favoritre here).
I am sure others will give their advise, and everything you get from this forum is good advise, so weigh it all out and get whats best for your needs.
You might also want to call Angelo at PAC. He will take very good care of you.
Good luck.
