It pretty much is a "crap shoot"
I have never contracted for this service, so I really don`t know how it will work out.
I can`t guarantee anything other than publicity about whoever takes on the job.

what exactly are you offering then? my experience at shows is that most car owners take car of their own cars and will never let a stranger near a show vehicle. what`s with the $20 fee for an exclusive contract to do what? are you hiring someone to work or just letting us know that there is a show with a 150 cars?

You`re right, most car owners take care of it themselves.
I am trying something new. Something for the person that doesn`t want to take the time or doesn`t have the time.
The $20.00 is pretty much a show up fee and a space reservation.
You keep everything that you make.
Maybe it will work and maybe now.
We were at a show in Viginia in 2008 that brought in a "wash and detail service". They were busy for 3 days.
That is why I can`t guarantee anything, too many variables
I am hoping to contract with a detailer who will have an exclusive. Meaning I will only have one detailer

Not to discourage you, but at most car shows it won`t work .. 20+ years of car show experience ...

the only place that kind of service works is a new car show where dealers and manufacturers would be displaying the new `10`s and do not want to pay their help to work over time ... the only other place I`ve seen this work is at auctions ...

This has been my experience with show cars. At best I`ve got jobs working on certain parts, like paint only or metal polishing.

Still would be interesting to show up and have a look at what is going on. You could network with the car owners and maybe pickup their daily drivers.

It is in fact a crap shoot, no guaranties and if even they would pay your price. Most car show people already have them detailed before they put them in the trailer.

You might get some exposure, but it`s no good if your out of state. What you will be doing is what I describe as a Foo Foo , or a wipe down. You would need to do all 150 cars for it to be profitable for the day.

Re: Detailer wanted to work a car show

I go to a car show nearly ever week in the summer and their is no way I would allow someone to even touch my car.
    Reason would be
#1 I have no idea what the persons skill level is and I`m not going to find out by allowing him to do my custom paint show car.

#2 Pro`s are doing it to make money and time is money so they will be in a hurry not what I would want.

#3 Why pay someone to do what I can do myself.

#4 No one will pay attention to all the little things like I do see #2
