I love what I have seen and heard so far and would trade my 10 Shelby in for one if the track and drag numbers are there. Word is there will be dealer allocations and limited numbers. Best looking muscle car out there.

Honestly I`ve never been a fan of the Challenger`s, but this Hellcat has me DROOLING! I LOVE what they did with the taillights, it makes the car look smaller I think. Check out these videos>>

    Re: 2015 hellcat challenger

It`s a story of a bit late to the party but perhaps the wait will be worth it. The Camaros and Mustangs have been walking on the Challengers, even the aftermarket ones, since its re-introduction. The combination of a few pounds over weight and an automatic transmission has had them bringing up the rear in the pony wars.

From what I`ve read the new Mustang is getting fat, two to three hundred more pounds than the previous generation and we don`t really know what their flagship engine will be. The 5.8`s in the Shelby`s are still more than a handful (662 HP) and well beyond that number in the SuperSnake and Roush Stage 3. That said, I`ve heard that the Tritons may not be offered in 2015. The Coyote`s are good engines but give up a bit in the displacement department and to my knowledge Ford hasn`t advertised that they`re adding forced induction. Ford`s added the Cobra Jet intake, cams, cold air intake, dual 65 mm throttle bodies and long tubes and getting about 475 HP naturally aspirated. That`s very good for a 5.0 but that won`t run with the supercharged competition. They will definitely need something more. A lot of the aftermarket blowers are getting 700 HP on the Coyote but haven`t seen anything from the factory.

The Camaro`s have been rocking the past coupe of years and the tests I`ve seen shows it out handling the Mustangs in everything but a straight line. Apparently the Mustangs need better shoes and brakes and leave a bit on the table with the live axle (fixed in 2015). Might be the perfect opportunity for MOPAR to get back in the thick of things. It`s a good looking car.

I look at these cars every time I go to the Jeep Dealer for an oil change...

Having grown up with the original Hemi cars in the 60`s/70`s, and seen and heard them really up close and personal, all I can tell you from my humble opinion, is that these new versions are BIG and WIDE in the Butt like nothing I have ever seen...

    What`s up with that ????

They are just bigger and wider all over...

Will have to get more details about their weight and coefficient of drag numbers...

Every car maker for some reason seems to think that bloating their cars out is supposed to be good or something, I guess....

It is certainly nice to have that incredible engine and all but just imagine for a moment, what that engine would be like in the original lighter, smaller Mopar cars across the board...

    Yeah, scary fast...

That`s what I think too especially for the Challengers. I consider that thing a boat. I don`t see how it could handle anything other than a straight line. I am aware that I am most likely in the minority with that opinion but that is all it is, my opinion.

    Re: 2015 hellcat challenger

For what it is worth I have a 13 Charger RT Black Top and I think it handles pretty well on the track for a boat.

I recently did progressive paced laps at Lightning Race Way in NJMSP, so it was follow the leader with no pacing ,but at the end of the day we were flying. After some class room driver education and instruction we hit the track at a max 60 mph, to get a feel for the track and then discuss in the class room. My group consisted of a 13 Subaru BRZ, 14 Camaro SS 1LE and an 03 BMW 550I, we were later joined by another BRZ because his group was too slow lol.

We did 5 36 mile sessions at 20 mins each. I used sport mode the entire time and the RT held up with no issues whatsoever. The BRZ`s were killing me and the Camaro at first, but then we would catch them on the straights. We were hitting 115-125 mph on the straights. The 550I owner didn`t want to push it, so I didn`t even see him in my rear view. The 2 BRZ`s were on the instructors ass, which was a Subaru WRX, the whole time. By the last session the Camaro SS 1LE got the hang of it and hung with the Sub`s in the turns and would have killed them on the straights. I was trying to keep up with the Camaro, but the RT is a big girl and likes to push in those turns. I could feel the tires wanting to give. The 1LE pkge is a sweet track package and the Sub`s way 2700 lbs. All in all it was a blast and I would like to do it again, only next time hot laps with an instructor. Maybe I was just being a bit cautious with the RT, but when I felt like my tires might come off the rim in a turn I let off the throttle.

Side note: There was an intermediate group running hot laps which consisted of Porsche 911`s, BMW M3, Audi S4, BMW Z4, Miata (crashed) and a few other German cars with 1 lonely Camaro SS 1LE. They would hit the track after us and we would watch that Camaro kill everything, at one point he was 12 secs ahead of the group. The Camaro was completely stock except for an exhaust cut out mod that allowed all the baffles to be open all the time. Me and the other Camaro owner didn`t see any visual mods, but it could have had a tune. Regardless of a tune or not, this guy could drive and his that Camaro handled very well.
