Re: Texas Mile record...257.7mph in ONE MILE, video included!

This brings up a question... How fast would a top fuel dragster or a funny car get up to if unleashed for more than a 1/4 mile

It`s a great question and one I`d like to know the answer to but what might be a better one is how long the engine would stay together? They`re geared to be using everything they have as they go across the traps. To see how fast they`d actually go would require much taller gears and a driver with no fear. A Top Fuel car might be making 4 times the horsepower these cars are making.

You don`t see true drag cars on the Salt Flats, they don`t have cooling systems per se and just aren`t designed for longer distances.

Is the Ford GT still running a Ford small block?

Both the Hennesey and the PPR record holder are running 5.4 liter twin turbo Fords. Not considered a Ford small block in the strictest sense (260`s, 289`s 302`s and 351 Windor`s). They`re the twin cam Mod Motors (as in modular, not to be confused with 351 M or modified). I know I`m not telling you anything you don`t already know Wally. Maybe someone else wouldn`t make this correlation.
