As technology has improved these new autos shift faster than most of us could. I think it will get to the point where manual transmissions will become a thing of the past. As much fun as they are more and more people don`t know how to drive them.

Sweet ride! It was between the Challenger and Camaro for me. Too many Mustangs on the road.

Thanks sc_S13. No, it doesn`t for 2012. However, rumor has it that it might be an option for next year`s model (along with a possible 8-speed auto transmission). Not sure on what the extra cost would look like, though. There`s also rumor that 2013 may be the last year for the Challenger - but that remains to be seen. The Barricuda may take its place.

I agree. I`m a long-time Camaro fan but have never really been able to get into Mustangs. (Although I do find that I appreciate them now moreso than in years past.)

A new Cuda would be cool as long as they keep the same body style and just freshen it up and bring over some of the traditional styling that the Cuda had. Like the grills and the shaker hood from the factory would be cool.

My mom`s uncle had an old Challenger in the back yard for years. It had California tags from when he was stationed out there in the Navy. I wish I would have known before he got rid of it and I would have taken it

I have to look it back up, but I thought they were just doing different versions of the Challenger.

I don`t like the 2011 charger, but you should check out the red line charger. Its nice.

The only thing a manual does for you compared to these new paddle shift sports cars is allow you to dump the clutch. There is no way you can shift a manual as fast as you can with paddle shift. My last two cars have had it a CLK500 and Z4 and they stay in what ever gear you left it in when you let off the throttle or you can downshift just like a manual.

Congrat`s! That`s a WHOLE LOTTA ENGINE. The torque should make for some fun times, and if I`m right, 6th gear should be tall enough to get decent gas mileage on the freeway (for an engine its size at least).

Does it have Variable Valve Timing or whatever Dodge calls it? I know Camaros with auto transmissions have it but the manuals don`t.

My Ram has it and while it helps with gas mileage I don`t think want my Challenger to have it. I think it affects the sound of the exhaust too. Seems to drone a little more with it than without

I guess you are right, it looks like the Challenger will be scrapped by 2014. Supposedly a new, smaller, Barracuda will replace it. I think the biggest problem right now is that Chrysler is overpricing some of these cars.
