    If it`s broke, fix it..

One of my all time faves, in the exact spec that I wanted popped up in December. I finally decided to pull the trigger and pick up this German sledgehammer. Going to need quite a bit of work but overall it`s not bad. My only complaint is it has too many options. After my last build (SLK 55 AMG) this really doesn`t seem too bad. More pictures to come once it`s delivered.

Nice score, in for updates! And sledgehammer is an appropriate term!

No updates yet but the SLK is 99% there, trying to get the darn radio unlocked.

the driver- Thanks for the update on the SLK55. Heh heh, of all the things that could still need to be dealt with, it just figures it`s that radio unlock that`s yet to be done!

Is it still gonna be your dad`s driver?

Yes sir, he has finally been enjoying it. I have to say he isn`t really the biggest car guy but now he`s starting to get more into car care and car knowledge in general, hell he even figured out how to get the unlock codes for the radio before I did. To that SLK is the PERFECT retirement car, in so many ways I seriously could find a better machine for him.

Oh man, I just loved reading that! Thanks for filling me in.

My father wasn`t into cars/Detailing until he was..what?...in his 70s. By the time he passed (at 87) he was almost Autopian about it! Having *just the right car* can sure make a difference SO GLAD you set him up with that SLK55.

I`m looking for a 380sl or possibly a 560sl to play with. Just 2 or 3 years ago you could find a clean example of either for 5k. Recently these cars started going for 20k. I personally don`t think that price is justified and will correct itself when the recession hits

I`m not sure, the 380`s tend to be far more common and just don`t hold value. The 560 on the other hand will start to creep up. Like all good merc`s they will only go up, that was the reason I pulled the trigger on this C63 507.

I wouldn`t be buying to make money. It`s more sentimental. When I first started detailing cars in 1982 I worked for a Mercedes dealership and literally detailed hundreds and hundreds of these. Another one that I`d like to have is a 500 sec but you never see those anymore.

No telling what the c63 will be worth in 20 - 30 years.

Well I didn`t buy this as investment although it will appreciate overtime. TBH the N/a 6.3 M156 motors are very special and will be a very desirable pick in the future. This really was Mercedes last hurrah. The rumor is now the new one`s will be 4 cylinder hybrids which will really drive up the V8`s and others.

Drive `em both. You`ll want the larger engine.

And yeah...those W126 SECs are wonderful. I could *almost* go back to one if I didn`t have the current, uhm...accumulation. Not exactly low-maintenance though, Benz or not, and the seats were only good for an hour or so. But !oh man! I loved `em anyhow...
