That must been one heck of a windy storm, also the lack of trees in neighborhood isn`t helping slow it down.

Trees are a double edge sword.

While they are great for breaking up the wind, they are also a hazzard. Around here, the same storm that gave him all that snow dropped a a good amount of rain along with 30~50kt winds. Combine those winds with recent rain on ground that is already saturated, and we`ve got trees coming down or snapping off. Not just small decorative trees either, I`m talking large elms, maples, and other hardwoods which are 50+ feet tall.

We had four more come down recently, more work for my tree guys on top of last year`s $17K worth...living in a woods is great, but yeah, double edged sword indeed. The big ones that snapped off high up make the property look like a battlefield, actually kinda cool IMO.

First 4-day weekend in some time. T-F-S-S. Planned on detailing the truck. But no. Weather turned to complete crap. Constant rain. Now it is going to get cold tonight. Then more rain Sat/Sun. Just can`t win. Fine. I`ll drink beer and watch all the rain. I have the next 4 Fridays off. Hopefully we will get a decent weekend!!!

I`ll blame our continuing wet weather for yet another two trees that came down this week. Had to clear part of one away just to get to bfast yesterday. My wife and I will be chainsawing all weekend again, but that beats hours with the polesaws!

    Re: Gotta Love Winter...

I`m so done with this winter. I think this is going to be the year without a summer. They are calling for 3-5 inches today( whoever they are).

Edit: now it`s 3-6 time to drop the top and go for a drive.

This morning it is as full on winter as you can get. Not going anywhere today. Wet heavy crap, and the winter tires are already off the vehicles.

This is what a lot of people don`t understand about winters out west - it may not be the extreme negative temps they get up in the Great Lakes region, but when you`re up in the mountains, the season lasts a bit longer. My parents moved to Oregon from South Dakota, so they were used to some pretty cold winters, but they were not prepared for the fact that it snowed on the 4th of July their first year out there. It`s pretty rare for it to happen that late in the year, but not uncommon in April and May.

Time to break out the chains. Stay safe and warm up there!

WOW Coleroad that is not fun at all! I would go to bed again and not get up until the snow crap is gone.

Sitting here thinking. While a bit of a pain, in the grand scheme of things it`s not too big of a deal for people. I feel bad for like the blue birds that already have babies. Kinda hard for them to find any insects to feed them in this stuff. Changes my perspective tremendously.

Coleroad- Thought for a moment you got some new power foam canon there. Best of luck for you and the animals.
