Xterra going in for some rust repair.

    4/16/18

Xterra has a 60 month/unlimited mileage rust warranty. Well back 6 months or so I stopped by the dealer to report a area below the lift gate handle on the rear hatch. Not bad, but rust no doubt and bubbling. Probably due to water getting past the handle gasket and pooling. They snapped a pic and sent it off to Nissan. Waited quite awhile, and called the dealer again. No update? Took another pic and sent it again. Followed up on that one, still nothing? So today I figured this ends one way or the other. Called this morning. Service manager stated we are just going to get it done for you as a goodwill repair. A rental will be provided free of charge. Well, guess you cant beat that. My Xterra currently is 5 years and 7 months old. 67,000 miles. That is the only area of rust that as reared its head. Something to be said for Nissan I guess. I am satisfied at the out come of this.

PA Detailer- Nice that your Dealer is being stand-up about this, hope it turns out OK. They replacing the hatch?

Heh heh, that`s a far cry from how Mazda behaved when the MPV rusted out! Bet you`re just as likely to buy another Nissan as I am to never own another Mazda.

Had a similar experience with a former 2001 Frontier I had. The Plastic bed liner was rubbing around the edges. Nissan paid to sand the rust and applied a spray in liner. I wash happy with service provided.

You got lucky with the good will warranty. My Frontier had 60,300ish on it when the timing chain whine appeared. Nissan pretty much told me to pound sand. I just drove it around for a while and finally dumped it.

I read an article a few days ago. That stated the Nissan Rogue is the third best selling vehicle in the United States. I was amazed!

Glad I get a chance to see how I like it. I really like the Midnight Edition. This gives me a chance to see if I could live with one.

    Nissan`s CVT transmission .... UGH!

Loved the look of the vehicle, went with a Subaru Outback because of the CVT horror stories.

Interesting. Dialed in that sweet spot (Seat adjustment) and drove. I noticed nothing weird at all with the CVT. Used both sport and eco driving modes. Was pulling 30MPG VS my 16.5 in the Xterra. Lots of tech to play with. The LED headlamps are amazing on high beam! Lit that long drive home like never before. They are not available on the MIDNIGHT EDITION Overall I found the ride quality great. I can see why this is Nissans best selling crossover. There is really nothing there not to like.

Just got a update. Well this is going to take longer than expected. It appears worse than it is. They don`t want to patch it, so it looks like it`s going to be a total panel replacement. Looks to be middle to end of next week. No changes. It still we be all covered by NISSAN. So looks like more time with the ROGUE.

Huh, now I`m confused Well, kinda, it`s worse than *expected* huh?

I`d have them shoot some good Rust Inhibitor in there this time.

Re: Xterra going in for some rust repair.

Good grief! 10 days so far and I am still not done! Was up near their body shop today and poked my head in to see WTH is taking so long. Well being Nissan is paying the bill, the manager explained to me they are waiting on a rear hatch skin. Rather than repair or replace the whole hatch they going to do the outer skin. First one they are going to do. Kind of like a door skin. Should be done this week. Good lord.
