Re: A 127 year old US industry collapses under Chinas weight

Wait til the next real war. All our medicine comes from India. Soon all our munitions will come from China or some other God forsaken place. And yes, I believe compared to America, China is a God forsaken place. Same with India.

How will we defend ourselves when we are relying on products that come from the other side of the world to do so?

I just dont see any real change happening with out a very real economic crisis. I think like a drug addict this country will need to hit rock bottom before real change is made.

Agreed. People haven`t paid attention, and forget history.

It will take a productive Congress to produce meaningful legislation that gets away from side issues like Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, statues, flags, etc. We had an immigration bill that the House refused to really do much with. Ryan kicked the can on that again when he said he could not trust Obama so BAU. It requires simple bills with straight forward goals negotiated without posturing for the elections in 2018.

Until lower and middle class consumers (not wall street people) have more money, the economy is not really going to improve significantly.

Re: A 127 year old US industry collapses under Chinas weight

We need to stop being the worlds` police and take care of our own starving population. I was stationed in Honduras as the Director of Logistics for Central America at JTF-B and I watched money flowing out of the U.S. to build schools in places where there were no children and roads that lead to nowhere. By Congressional act the military is not allowed to build schools or roads on American soil, so the military (mostly Reserves) train all over the world shipping materials from the U.S. to whatever country we are trying to impress and builds nice schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, many things that could be used to fix the crumbling infrastructure here at home. We bend over and kiss the rears of third world leaders for reasons vague and unknown. I realize we live in a world economy and supposedly if one economy fails it could create a domino effect and reach us here in the U.S. We can`t keep propping up everyone`s economy at the expense of our own. There has been enough NAFTA and other acronymed disasters that just mean American workers no longer can compete with countries where the minimum wage is 10 cents and child labor is the norm. The President, the Senate, and Congress need to get their act together before the U. S. of A. reminds us that even Rome burned. There is a saying "America, love it or leave it!" I put my time in the military and saw the waste and abuse.and after I got out of the Army I immediately left for Honduras and planned to live the rest of my days there. For reasons beyond my control after 10 years I had to return to the States and it saddens me to watch the "leadership" of this once great nation sell us out. Now I`ll go drink a German beer and polish my Japanese car with my Italian polisher. Keep on, keeping on!

    Lonnie,

Who should decide what percentage of their income someone should pay?

Who should decide how much a pro athlete should be paid?

Who should decide how much a Detailer should be paid?

You do, when you vote for a congressional candidate who vows to not raise taxes.

You do, when you buy any product that has ties or sponsorship to the NFL.

You do, when you pay the detailer his asking price for his service.

It`s a pretty simple economic law of supply and demand: someone demands the money for taxes, playing pro football, or detailing your vehicle, and you supply it!

That makes too much sense, there has to be a different way.
