So what do you recommend for a guy whose complimentary subscription runs out in Decemeber? After almost 5 months the vehicle has 700 miles on it. I can honestly tell you if I were paying for it I wouldn`t be getting my money`s worth. I hate having anything in my vehicle that isn`t working up to capacity even down to the radio and even though I`ve used it very little. I have no doubt they wouldn`t consider the amount of time I`ve spent in the vehicle as criteria for their pricing. I`ve quite iterally spent twice as much time detailing, coating, sealing, etc. the vehicle as I have driving it. I don`t want them sending me a bill because I didn`t act on the expiration time of the subscription. I`ve considered calling them now but haven`t done anything about it.

For free trial you don`t have to do anything (unless you gave em a cc # )
For me they "automatically renew" unless you cancel. Even if like me you pay annually at once.

^^^ This is the problem I have with their system. You renew at the then-current 100% pricing which is obtuse...and obscene! I won`t do it. And, frankly, I don`t want to spend 1/2hr trying to get the idiots on the phone and get a better price every 5 or 12 months. Their service just isn`t worth it. It`s very spotty in my area and I hate the commercials.

If you think you`re going to subscribe to their system long-term, the (single) lifetime payment is the way to go.

That`s what I would have thought however when my Father`s trial period ran out on his truck they notified him a month after it had happened and wanted him to pay for the month that had just passed. They don`t have my card but apparently there is some type of agreement that takes place when you activate the entertainment system. My radio had a plastic sticker that said to be removed only by customer, it had a number on it and I really didn`t fully realize what I was doing when I entered the number when I set up SYNC, I believe I made some type of handshake agreement with them but I have no idea what it was. By the way the new SYNC 3 system is light years ahead of SYNC 2. Poor excuse for an entertainment/navigation system.

I let my trial run out last year. They peppered me with offers to reup....but no threats of "overdue" invoices or other nonsense.

So what do they do? Secretly raise your rates like some insurance companies? Is that what happened the first time?

    Re: Sirus RIPOFF

When I bought my car it was already set up or the dealer set it up. If you are on the trial period and have not given them a cc and no longer want it just let it expire. If you gave them a cc you need to call and cancel before the trial period ends or you will be charged full price per month. If you are looking for a deal either let it expire and wait for the renewal notices to come, they will offer you 6 month deals for $25 or less. They will send a few of them. Other option is call and ask for the deals. Never give them a cc, ask them to send you a bill and send them a check. That is the only way to stay away from auto renewal. Unless something has changed in the last few years they should not be able ask you for back months if you never had a regular subscription. My 3 month free trial lasted over 5 months due to a few holidays where they had 2 week free periods plus they sent me a notice for renewal that they wanted me to subscribe and that came with a month free.

    Now youre talking !!!!
Spotify sounds light years ahead of "before Analog sounding Sirius/XM radio"..

Too bad Sirius has this incredible deal with all auto makers to have their app installed in their radios.....
Wonder how they managed to do that and how much that cost.....

Even on my lame LG Enact phone, Spotify sounds so much better because it is not compressed and ruined like all the others including Apple...
I hope they get enough support to keep on going and hopefully one day, knock the others off..

I mean, if you really appreciate music and how its recorded (and yes, even that stage is horribly mismanaged at times), then why cant you hear it like it was intended by the best engineers, and of course the most awesome groups on the planet ??

    Yes

For anyone wondering, Spotify is like Pandora but I think even better. It has the radio option like Pandora so you can just type in an artist like "Bob Marley" and listen to "Bob Marley" radio, but you can also go to any specific artist and listen to any of their albums, or any specific song. You can even build your own custom playlists or listen to pre-made playlists which are categorized by genre. It`s a little more complicated to use than Pandora, but once you figure it out it`s much better. With the premium service I get unlimited skips too. So I can basically listen to anything I want, whenever I want for $9.99 a month. All of your data is synced on all your devices too. So if I listen to a song in my car, then go to my computer, I just hit play right were I left off. And you can control the music from any device too. So at home when I`m playing the music on my receiver, I can change the song or control Spotify from my cell phone!

And to add to Dans point, the quality is great. I pay for Premium Spotify which gives you even better quality sound and you can download ANY song or playlist to your device so you can listen to it even if you don`t have service. I have a few albums downloaded just in case I`m somewhere without service.

    p.s. I swear I don`t work for Spotify
