Can certainly understand why the CEO tucked his tail and ran. It`s going to be expensive.

EPA is looking at all diesel products and are changing the test to include road test.
VW has a major problem, cheated, got caught, admitted cheating, EPA has to approve fix....

While what they have done is wrong and they will get hammered for it, let`s look at another point as well.

The skill and engineering needed to create, implement and execute this is quite impressive. Just think about how great their other cars and features are where they focused on doing it right.

I kinda wish wish I had one of these TDI`s at the moment.

    Troy,
You maybe very well correct? We will see how VW engineers come up with a fix that EPA approves.
Oh and pleases the customer/owners of the products.
They cheated to keep MPG very high and HP up, any fixes look likely it will drop both.
Will owners return to dealers for the fix?

I am willing to bet you can buy a used TDI cheap in the near future. Troy, sit tight time is on your side for a purchase.

I had read this as well but the article I saw said that BMW had done well in their tests. There is one Audi product with the same VW engine that was in the trouble boat. You gotta know that the entire diesel industry will be looked at through a microscope now. I`ve given my opinion before but I find it hard to believe other manufacturers aren`t doing something similar.

This is a bit off topic. Personally, I`ve been watching the Ford EcoBoost products (simply because I`ve been around them) since they first came out. Don`t get me wrong, I like them but they`re one of those enigmas that seem a little too good to be true. The tail pipes on all of the ones I`ve been around (including my new one) and the smell sure seems like these turbo`d engines run plenty fat. Yeah, I know, modern fuels leave dark pipes. In my mind it`s that old saying, builders have 3 things to consider, fuel economy, horsepower and low emmisions. Pick the two you wish to have but you can`t have all three.

Utah no longer does a tail pipe sniff as part of its emmisions test, haven`t done for years. They plug the tester into the OBD II port and it tells you whether everything is working correctly or not. Viola, here`s your certificate. Knowing the software can be manipulated, who knows what`s coming out the pipe during 80% of its driving cycle?

Or they just focused on one particular aspect to sell product. I get your point though.

I seriously love the look of the new beetles and would happily pick one up at a discounted rate. Is the new beetle available in a Turbo Diesel?

Guess I`m going for a test drive
