I had 2006 Jetta TDI and loved it. Got great gas mileage, looked good, and drove great. I have been thinking about a Passat TDI. Maybe I`ll grab one before they "fix" it.

And if you get an naughty one, I bet you`ll have to keep it away from VW dealerships lest it be subjected to a mandatory "fixing".

When we were in Portugal last year, we rented a gas VW Polo and zipped all around the southern part of the country. The engine was way smaller than our 2.5`s, but it really felt strong and kind of "un-bogged down."
I could only think at the time that it must have had fewer extra hindrances on the engine than ours. It was a little louder, too, but not unbearable.
If I had one of these diesels, I just couldn`t picture myself taking it in for a recall that results in having a slower, more bogged-down car.
VW makes a quality car for the money. Hope they stay in business for many years to come.
Well I knew it would happen sooner than later, but didn`t think it would be this soon. The politicians have now gotten into the fray -- Senators want civil, criminal actions against VW

Thought this might be of some interest. Hard to believe that this hasn`t been detected a good many times given the number of 4 wheel dynos out there.

I find this quite interesting and wondering what the magic number would be to bankrupt the company? Forbes says they`re worth 126 Billlion, I`m assuming that would be with all assests. Also wondering if it got to the point where they had to start selling off their assets to protect the mighty VW corporate, which of there peripheral companies (they have a few) you might see up for grabs. Maybe you`ll see Fiat owning Bugatti or GM owning Bentley (well, probably not GM right now). How about a Yamaha, Ducati? I`ve obviously got too much time on my hands.

That`s what I`m waiting on. Used (and heck even new) TDI`s are going to get cheap. It does seem like finding a Jetta Sportwagen TDI with a 6 speed manual is a rare unicorn in my parts. We almost picked up one that was a new 2014 leftover, but it was the DSG and the reliability and maintenance is what swayed us away. The other party in the house drives in traffic and did not want a manual. That would have left both vehicles in the household stick, lol.
