Corvettes the way all cars should be delivered

I took an exit off I-75 North and saw a new car transporter carrying around ten brand new Vettes and they were covered from grill to tail with white plastic. I have seen other cars and they skimp on the plastic protection. All car manufacturers could spend a few more bucks and have their cars hit the dealership looking factory fresh. Kudos to GM for doing it right.

Manufacturers to the least possible in terms of expense. I would bet that the oh reason vettes are wrapped the way they are is because a disproportionate amount of Corvette buyers /owners have inspected cars and rejected them on delivery or caused charge backs to GM. The extra wrap was deemed cheaper than the dealing with an eagle eye owner.

Funny thing is, for those made in Germany, the plastic is put on at the port. They are transported all around before nekkid.

VW/ Audi and probably Porsche install their covers at the factory.

Anyway, these covers do not guarantee there is no damage. The amount of dirt, sand, rocks, etc. that they hold is unbelievable and that means unless you properly remove them which most people don`t because it`s a PITA, damage occurs. Here are some examples.

Zoom in on where the sun hits the back of this Q5 that was just unwrapped.

    This new Cayenne Turbo

    This new A8

The best solution was when they used to wrap it like this under the cover to avoid damage from the cover, but they have since stopped doing this.

I was so paranoid about my moms Mercedes that I removed the Rapgard myself upon delivery. Years ago I did a write up on it.

Corvettes have been doing this for several years now. A few other manufacturers are too now. And higher end ones always ship in an enclosed trailer. Nice to see, you get what you pay for, I suppose
