    Re: Log In Issues

I had problems trying to log in ever since the site came back up. Yeah, I was using the Detail City URL and received the standard "welcome" after logging in then landed right back at the login page. Once I tried moving around and was prompted to allow an AutopiaForums cookie I was able to get in. I don`t automatically allow cookies)

After selecting some threads to read I attempted to mark all threads as Read. I got this:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.
Repeated attempts result in same and threads I haven`t read still show as unread.

    TL

Edit: In addition, I`ve deleted all Detail City cookies. I`m able to log in and threads are now marked as read. However, using the navigation bar frequently results in a page with detailcity URL and shows me logged out.

    Re: Log In Issues

Same problems. I deleted cookies. I can get it on the first screen but if I jump to other screens I have to log in again. I even changed passwords numerous times to no avail.

Also get the same msg as tlmitchell when I delete items that I have read (Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error. )

    Obviously still some bugs/issues here.

    FYI I am using firefox.
    Thanks

    Re: Log In Issues

Just a thought, but perhaps you should try using a different type of forwarding to redirect people from detailcity.org to autopiaforums.com.... that might alleviate the issues.

LOL You are showing your age TL! 98% of the membership likely have no idea about your reference! BAUD! Thanks for that trip down memory lane! Couple a TI Silent 700 with that "cradle" modem and the TI MSG system and we`re talking communication.

The home page works fine for me. When I tab over to Forums, it requires log in. Perhaps because the Forums is detailcity.org and I have removed ALL cookies and bookmarks to detailcity.org.

That`s not you, it`s a site issue that still needs resolution.

What I don`t quite understand is that the site was down for 2-3 days... why were these issues not addressed during that time? Seems to me maybe the re-launch was a bit premature.

    I got nothin`

This of course, won`t be the first or last update that still had a glitch or two upon going live.

Regardless of how much testing you do on anything you frequently don`t find the glitches until things are put into play by the users. At times developers can be too close to the issue to see things.

Bill Gates has been selling Beta software for years and letting paying customers ferret out the bugs.

Remember when 14.4 was a HUGE step up? Some BBSs were charging surcharges for the higher speed. Ah yes, the days of Rusty & Edy`s and all the free copyrighted software you could download. Right up until the FBI & the SPA showed up. Remember, "Don`t copy that floppy!"

Along those lines, I scarfed a bunch of old 5 1/4" floppies out of a box at work. I yank the media and use the sleeves for CDs that I pass out. A young kid took one look at the floppy with the CD and sez "MAN! What kind of drive do I need for THAT thing?!? I don`t think I`ve got one!" His wide-eyed expression was priceless.

Everything old becomes new again... gonna run right out and pick up the "new" Commodore 64?

TL, I`m sure you aren`t aware of this, but I actually have a background in web hosting as a system/server administrator... I know all about finding glitches/etc. in situations such as this (in fact, I used to work for the company that hosts this very forum).

My philosophy is that insufficient testing and validation prior to launching into a production environment is sloppy work, especially when it comes to what appear to me to be easy issues to spot. Links still pointing to the wrong domain, the use of what appears to be a parked domain as opposed to a simple htaccess or META redirect from detailcity.org to autopiaforums.com, etc.

    Oh well.

I am sure we are going to find other small issues with the forum transition. If the forum members continue to point them out to us it will allow us to get them resolved quickly.

I access via two different systems and no issue with either. The chat room still goes to detailcity domain but worked.
